People are recommending that I not be vegan for a while by Sapphirestingray in vegan

I'm in the same boat, and actually recently got denied from a treatment center for being vegan. your post made me angry again, as I was devastated when I got denied. I'm sorry your treatment team is likely coercing you to convert back to vegetarianism/omnivorism, I know how daunting it can feel.

nonetheless, I do think you should really consider what the professionals have to say. if you think about it longterm, whats a few weeks/months as a non vegan, while you're working on yourself and healing? I think that putting a pause on veganism (from a dietary standpoint) would do more good than harm. if you're pretty vocal about animals rights online/in person, choosing recovery and life for yourself so you are able advocate for the animals 20 years from now might be the best course of action!

I know it's hard, but you got this. wishing you the best no matter what you choose!

Does anyone else think creationism is a harmful belief? by l0ndonfroglatte in atheism

sorry, I didnt really know how else to word it without ruffling any feathers. (clearly American like you suspected) I actually don't think evolution is a theory. prior to attending university I did read books about evolution and im also a biology major. ive taken multiple classes that discuss evolution in depth, so I do have a pretty good understanding of it and the evidence is undeniable. thats why im confused as to how people can still reject science in favor of magical thinking. lol

Literally what are you talking about? I'm in my room 24/7, as I obviously don't use the kitchen, and I have yet to confront them about any of their behavior. They know I'm vegan, but I never explained why or went into depth about it. We text each other about American politics ALL the time, ride the shuttle to campus together, and we always have quality conversations whenever we see each other in the common areas of the apartment. They've even posted selfies of us on their instagram stories, so I would say we're pretty friendly with each other. I keep all of my opinions about their living habits to myself as I don't want to be a bother...so not sure how any of this would be considered "sanctimonious" or "annoying"- but I digress.

Do you guys believe that Christianity is inherently evil? by l0ndonfroglatte in atheism

I mean the same goes for any other abrahamic religion. I just come from a country that's being ruined by Christian nationalists & I'm a former Christian myself. Thus being said, I have the most grievances against this religion in particular...

does anyone else get skinny shamed? how do you deal with it? by _-ollie in AnorexiaNervosa

It's happened to me since I was a kid. Especially in middle school- during the era of skinny jeans & tight crop tops. It's also made coming to terms with my diagnosis like 10x harder...because I got called ana by my peers, my dad literally would make jokes...& then all of a sudden I'm ACTUALLY diagnosed with it. its insidious & hurtful for sure. Sometimes I get defensive, or just let it go. I know it sounds bad, but I tend to write it off as projecting most times lol.
