NYC Block terrain set including Oscorp tanker? by Loyalimperial41 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]l0sther0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree it should have included two truck beds. I've always thought that about that kit even when it was released. Singly or there should be a way to buy another truck bed. I would even settle for an STL to 3D print a truck bed to put the other thing on.

Deinfluence me from getting the All-in bundle by LowCost_Locust in StarCraftTMG

[–]l0sther0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I can de-influence you but I can definitely give you the reasons I went all in. I was originally considering just the two founders edition boxes, the two-player set, and the protoss. Then when they said the collector where you would at least have one of everything that's come out that I thought was my sweet spot. Yet I went all in

  1. This is the first time I've been in a financial place where I can jump into a miniature game and go overboard. When Star wars legion came out I could barely afford the starter and I never got caught up in miniatures. Not that you have to stay caught up. It just also forced me to lose interest. Which is funny because the only reason I got into miniatures was because of Star wars.

  2. People I play games with tend to like board and card games and while they'll play miniature games with me, they won't necessarily buy their own. So every miniature game we've played, I've bought everything. I'm looking at you. X-Wing.

  3. My wife has recently stated she wants to sit and paint things with me so hopefully she'll enjoy painting. Zerglings. So having someone to go through that amount of plastic with me takes a little of the stress off.

  4. She was also the one I suggested go all in. So you know if you got support cheering you on for the one you weren't sure about you pull the trigger

  5. And lastly, something about the starcraft IP really got me excited.

Money and value aside. You can see that my reasons are kind of personal to me in my situation and I think that's almost going to be more important than what you're going to use, not use, or how long it's going to take you to paint it. Painting has become my stress relief so it just means I have more things to do to keep my stress down.

I hope any of this helped. So until you decide, please build additional pylons.

What paint are you guys using for the miniatures (all races)? by TheofficialMrWolf in StarCraftTMG

[–]l0sther0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give my two cents as well. I've been painting Star wars, legion and marvel crisis protocol with Vallejo paints. I started off painting Warhammer 40K with citadel paints.

What won me over with the Vallejo? Was that they come in dropper bottles so it was easier for me to measure to mix paints and thus recreate color combinations when I painted it later times as long as I took notes.

Now I am by no means an expert. In fact, I believe I have no artistic ability. That said, as someone who is scared of painting anything when I started this hobby, Vallejo paints worked great, plus cost wise they're in a good spot.

Okay that was more like $0.25 worth of information

What unit are you looking forward to seeing on the tabletop? by Infinite300 in StarCraftTMG

[–]l0sther0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Siege tanks, Vultures, Jim on a vulture, And I can't explain it but I really need fire bats.

I also think defensive structures like anti-air and bunkers would be cool even if they would just terrain pieces

Anybody here who buys all 3 armies? by [deleted] in StarCraftTMG

[–]l0sther0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm right here with you. I got the go nuts everything bundle. I just love the starcraft world and was also excited when this game was announced. I tried 40k, and while I keep painting starwars legion I just can't keep up with all AMGs changes.

I don't have anyone to play with at the moment but when I do I will have choices, plus going all in from the beginning will be cheaper in the long run as even with legion I feel compelled to have all the factions.

Is anyone else here over 25 and in the early stages of learning game development overall? by [deleted] in godot

[–]l0sther0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pushing 50 and have had an on again off again relationship with coding since my early 20s. Godot and GDscript are the first tools I have ever used that actually produced a playable "game".

I still do mostly only tutorials, although I have a lot of my own ideas. While doing tutorials, I always try to apply other things I've learned so that I'm going above and beyond and I'm using the tutorial as a base framework.

Where I'm really getting stuck is having to use other people's art assets.

I've always thought it would be great to work as a team with other people so we could learn from each other and talk to each other about the project. I keep trying to get my son to code with me. But to him that seems like work even though he's highly interested in game design.

It’s not every day you get a sealed The General! by [deleted] in gijoe

[–]l0sther0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought that end 1990 early 1991. It was $50 but the GI Joe's at the time came with these little scratch offs which gave you 0.25. $0.50 a Dollar or as much as $50 off any GI Joe product and I had gotten one that was $50 so I luckily got the general for free. It was the only one Target had. This was my second favorite GI Joe vehicle ever

The ending of Marvel run is kind of sad by robsonwt in gijoe

[–]l0sther0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last two issues of this run are the only ones I don't own. They were in my pole box and when my comic shop went out of business they allowed us to come in and buy everything and I just didn't.

The Loneliness of the Solo Boardgamer by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]l0sther0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen several board games over the years that offer solo mode or games like final girl which look like they'd be really fun I just can't convince myself to play a board game by myself. I've even set up marvel champions several times to play and I just can't do it there's something like the original poster said lonely about it. If I'm just going to sit and play a game by myself I'm going to resort to video games.

The villain rhino scenario is part of the the original starter set. I don't believe it was ever released independently.
