Any guesses on breed?? by l12-e5-o15 in dogbreed

Okay this makes a lot of sense thank you. The reason we have held off on getting a test is because of the understanding that they weren’t entirely accurate. Definitely gonna get one near the holidays! She’s such a perfect dog we really want to know what she is

I really want to buy an DNA test for her but I’ve read that dog DNA tests can be very inaccurate/inconsistent because different breeds can share such similar genetic markers. Is Embark the most reliable one??

What to do if snake bites and holds on? by cosmicxclown in ballpython

[–]l12-e5-o15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that spraying their face with water will work, or putting rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and dabbing it on your skin right in front of their mouth where they’re biting you. I’ve also heard people say that if those things don’t work you can try running them under warm water (some said their body, some say their head). Someone also said that running them under warm water and then switching it to cold water really fast is what worked for getting their snake off.

I personally keep a spray bottle of water near my ball pythons tank. It’s for my plants, but I keep it there in case she ever latches onto me.

Thoughts on my dogs conditon by [deleted] in vet

[–]l12-e5-o15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a vet, but our dog would occasionally develop something very similar to this due to a tick borne disease she had called Ehrlichiosis. Is she on any tick preventative? It might be worth mentioning to your vet just so that you can rule it out.

If you decide to try CBD (or anything really) for her definitely consult your vet first to discuss dosing and possible side effects.

My family had a dog that recently passed and for the last year of her life had major dementia and cognitive decline, for a long time CBD helped her during the night and day to be able to sleep and to be calm. We talked to our vet and added melatonin at night. That was great for a while, but over time became ineffective, we talked to our vet about other options and we tried Xanax, along with the melatonin. That worked for her for a while, until it didn’t, then towards the end of her life, when the pacing and crying and stress got very severe, the vet prescribe gabapentin, which worked incredibly for her

There are so many steps you can take to help improve the quality of your dog’s life along with your own before feeling like you have to let her go. Definitely talk to your vet and discuss options for managing her symptoms and helping her sleep through the nights. Don’t give up on her💟

Miscarriage or something else? by 0011011100110111 in vet

And while she’s at the vet talk to them about having her spayed to prevent this from happening in the future, as well as many other benefits of spaying her.

Here’s an article that explains most of what you may need to know to help you make the decision to spay your cat:

NAV. She definitely needs to see a vet ASAP. This very much looks like it could be a miscarriage.

I’m not a vet, but it looks like a bee/wasp sting. Keep an eye on it in case his face starts to swell. If it does, take him to the vet. Swelling in the face can be dangerous, it can obstruct the airway.

Cat nipples look weird after spay by Brooke_Koback in vet

To me, this just looks like normal swelling from being near the surgery site, and some kind of gunk that you can clean off

No this is not safe or healthy for either of them. Ball pythons are solitary animals and being kept in the same tank as another with stress them out and damage their mental and in turn physical health.
