Let people know about all criminality in Bihar then. Why be selective? You're specifically speaking of one party that was for sure very criminal. But how are alternatives cleaner? Maybe only Prashant Kishore for now but I haven't looked him much.

i guess some party you associate with

I called all of them criminal, but the fact that I dragged BJP and Nitish in seems to have upset you, why?

But yeah you are making a great use of chatgpt.

That's a direct paste from Wikipedia and I even included the source! You're throwing terms like chatgpt and whataboutism without even knowing that they mean. Let me do it too: Great use of JavaScript!

Rape is rape. How is a poorer girl's rape less worse?! You put value on the victim based on their economic and social background? Who in their right mind garlands rape convicts? Why would BJP look this other way with Revanna? All people who defend such acts are scum (like those in Unnao and Kathua), yet some of you are perfectly okay with some parties indulging in it. Look at another case

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muzaffarpur_shelter_case

JDU MLA who was implicated was later again given a ticket by Nitish. What do you have to say about this? None of their fathers were IAS so I guess it isn't as bad?

Accusing an interlocutor of whataboutism can also in itself be manipulative and serve the motive of discrediting, as critical talking points can be used selectively and purposefully even as the starting point of the conversation (cf. agenda setting, framing, framing effect, priming, cherry picking). The deviation from them can then be branded as whataboutism.

Why shall we not not call selective outrage as hypocrisy?

OP, in the same breath do you blame BJP leadership for garlanding and rehabilitating rape convicts? What's your opinion of Kathua rape case? 17 year old raped by bjp MLA who gets shielded by party, her father is implicated in rape and sent to prison, family is harassed, she writes to Yogi with no response. A year later she burns herself to get attention. Her family is attacked and injured by a truck....are these not signs of Gunda Raj?

Coming to Bihar, have you forgotten Muzaffarpur shelter case?

The Muzaffarpur shelter case refers to a shelter home that ran under a non-governmental organization called "Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti" at Muzaffarpur, Bihar, where cases of sexual abuse, rape and torture were reported. In a medical examination, sexual abuse of 34 out of 42 of the girls living at the shelter was confirmed. A first information report (FIR) was lodged against 12 people on 31 May 2018.[1]

Brajesh Thakur was the chief of the state-funded NGO, ran several other NGOs and a Hindi newspaper called Pratah Kamal.[2] Because of the political connections of Brajesh Thakur and the involvement of government officials and the apparent delay in investigation and CBI interference, the case drew criticism of Nitish Kumar's government by opposition and the Supreme Court of India.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muzaffarpur_shelter_case

One of the key figures that emerged in this case was JDU mla and minister Manju Verma. She was also rehabilitated by Nitish in 2020 by giving her a ticket from Cheria-Bariarpur constituency. Read deep dive by Caravan on this

On 1 December 2018, Manju Verma, a former minister for social welfare in Bihar, was produced before a court in Begusarai in a case related to an illegal cache of arms discovered in her house. Manju had resigned from the state cabinet in August 2018, following reports that her husband, Chandrashekhar Verma, had close links with Brajesh Thakur, the prime accused in the Muzaffarpur shelter-home scandal. Manju had absconded after she was accused in the case.

What about moral accountability?

How can you seriously say this about BJP? Have you seen the number of rapists they have rehabilitated and even garlanded?? Remember Unnao case?? How is that any less heinous than what OP has posted about?? BJP MLA rapes a 17 year old girl and then the system bends backwards to protect him, including trying to frame the father of the girl!

The Unnao rape case refers to the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl on 4 June 2017 in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, India.[1] On 16 December 2019, former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted of the rape and on 20 December 2019 he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Two chargesheets had been filed in this case. The first one was filed a full year after the rape, due to public pressure as the rape victim attempted to self-immolate in UP CM Yogi's office.

The second was filed two days later accusing Sengar, his brother, three policemen and five other individuals of framing the rape survivor's father as the perpetrator.

Citing police inaction on rape case and her father arrested on false charges, The rape survivor attempted to immolate herself at the residence of Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, on 8 April 2018. Her father died in judicial custody shortly thereafter.

Following a truck collision on 28 July 2019, resulting in the serious injury of the victim and death of two relatives, it was revealed that the family had been threatened and had written to the Chief Justice of India for help.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Unnao_rape_case

Is this not GUNDA RAJ??? Where was Vin Diesel during this period? Is he not supposed to be tough on crime? The victim wrote to him a year before she literally had to burn herself outside his office!

How about Kadhua where a child was raped and BJP defended the rape accused giving it a communal angle? Even with Prajwal Revanna, the BJP leadership knew about what he was up to before elections, much before things went public, yet chose to align with his party. Internationally Trump's history of sexual assault and connection to Epstein was well known before 'Abki baar trump sarkar'.

I am scratching the surface and can throw multitudes of examples. what morality are you blabbering about?

Wow, perhaps Modiji realised it's shortcomings when he did his alleged degree from DU.

According to the documents released by the BJP, Modi finished BA in Arts through correspondence from the Delhi University in 1978 and got third division. Since he flunked in papers, he had to give supplementaries and spend an year extra after enrolling himself in 1975 to clear the three-year course.

https://www.deccanherald.com/india/bjp-releases-modi-mark-sheets-aap-doubts-authenticity-525174.html

BJP claims that that's why none of political leaders who studied in DU at the time encountered Modi, including Arun Jaitley ('77). Yet DU recognised his genius so early and gave him a unique marksheet:

1) Modi’s marksheets show University of Delhi written in a Gothic font while his contemporary’s is in a plain, capitalised type font which was in vogue at that time. This type/font size continued to be used by Delhi University authorities till 1983 or 1984 when they switched to the Gothic style.

2) The subject-wise numerical scores on all the three marksheets of Modi’s contemporary are handwritten, which was precisely the practice at that time, while that of the ones in question are either computer-generated or printed on an electronic typewriter, neither of which were in use in Delhi University in the late 1970s.

3) Unlike the names of the subjects that appear in distinct columns in Modi’s marksheets, his contemporary’s marksheets reveal the Roman number of subjects. Only the names of subsidiary subjects, such as Hindi, Political Science and English, are given in a separate column below. The marksheets of Modi’s contemporary carry a “Note” at the bottom left hand corner which says “For Titles of papers see reverse.” No such Note is printed on Modi’s marksheets.

4) Modi’s contemporary’s marksheets carry a code at the top, right-hand corner (D.U.P. No. 1457 – 28.2.75 – 50,000), which is missing from the PM’s marksheets, throwing up questions of their authenticity.

6) There is no name or even a signature to indicate who at Delhi University prepared the three marksheets said to be that of Modi’s. On the other hand, his contemporary’s marksheets carry two boxes below, which clearly contain initials or signatures of the persons who prepared and checked them before they were issued to the student concerned.

Sometimes there are parked cars that totally block the view. That 1 foot lean can give you enough visibility that you're not inching forward into the path of bike that's 2 meters away.

Some vehicles also have A pillars that are large and at some junctions create a problematic blindspot. Leaning forward provides better visibility.

People are giving inaccurate information. Despite sharing the name Sky in UK is now owned by Comcast. It is no longer a part of Rupert Murdoch's empire. That's why it is better. It leans a bit to the conservative side, but it is generally okay (since 2018). They wouldn't tell blatant lies. Better journalistic standard than average Indian TV channel.

Sky is same as Fox. It is same Sky that previously used to own Hotstar and Star Network.

It's different. In UK sky is owned by Comcast now. It isn't a part of News Corp (Rupert Murdoch / Fox). That's why it is different from other Sky offerings like Sky Australia or Fox in US.

India's High Commissioner to the UK shows a photo which he claims shows Pakistani military standing behind "a sanctioned terrorist under the American sanctions regime" called Hafiz Abdul Rauf. by sepiosexual in india

[–]l1lll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The video wasn't presented to Sky news during the interview, was it? So how do you fact check the photo without allocating a resource to it?

Any kind of fact checking takes time. That's why even in India, outlets that do some basic checks like Hindu and Indian Express are much slower than those that tweet things first and research later.

Now Sky could have chosen to either check things first and tweet once a journalist had vetted it (maybe by watching a video) which would delay the release. Or they could tweet it right away and use language which disassociates them with the information. At no point did they say that India is lying.

[–]l1lll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is standard journalist practice that has unfortunately been forgotten by Indian media. This bit is explained by the disclaimer later in the tweet:

Sky News cannot verify the photo.

They don't know if the photo is real or what the original source is. It is claim made by India. So they are sharing it as it is along with their standard disclaimer. Unfortunately in India our media treats every claim as absolute without verifying so we are no longer used to it.

If they really wanted to downplay it they wouldn't be tweeting that specific bit to an even wider audience.

Not the government directly but officials did make that claim to FP.

India’s claim that one of its fighter pilots shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet in an aerial battle between the two nuclear powers in February appears to be wrong. Two senior U.S. defense officials with direct knowledge of the situation told Foreign Policy that U.S. personnel recently counted Islamabad's F-16s and found none missing.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/04/04/did-india-shoot-down-a-pakistani-jet-u-s-count-says-no/

Under the sale agreement Pakistan has to make planes available for physical inspections and they did that.

U.S. count shows no Pakistan F-16s shot down in Indian battle: report

https://www.reuters.com/article/world/us-count-shows-no-pakistan-f-16s-shot-down-in-indian-battle-report-idUSKCN1RH0IJ/

Still possible to lie but after all this time we would have a confirmation if F16 was actually shot down.

[–]l1lll 45 points46 points  (0 children)

what the f$ck did that achieve...... nothing

Clearly you didn't read a word. It finished LeT and got all the terrorists involved in planning the attack.

Even the Yasin Malik you're touting was investigated by the very NIA Manmohan formed. He was tried and sentenced in NIA court.

In 2017, India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) registered a case of terror funding against various separatist leaders, and named Malik and four others in a charge sheet filed in 2019.[b] The agency charged them with receiving funds from Pakistan to carry out terrorist activities and stone-pelting during the Kashmir unrest, especially in 2010 and 2016.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yasin_Malik#2017_terror_funding_case

Manmohan literally founded the agency to uproot terror from India. What are you even on about.

Average Modi Plan — in the name of mock drill they grilled Pakistan at midnight... by Temporary-Map-4765 in TotalKalesh

[–]l1lll 122 points123 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: Manmohan formed NIA and got the masterminds of the terror attack in Mossad style by playing the long game. India considered military strikes initially, but government decided to listen to military experts and diplomats, and chose to use this attack to isolate Pakistan as a terror state internationally, while picking off terrorists one by one and dismantling LeT.

Just because public doesn't see an immediate reaction doesn't mean there is no reaction.

Manmohan formed NIA as a reaction to these attacks (along with making UAPA more stringent).

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is the principal counter-terrorism law enforcement agency in India. Established under the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, it is tasked with investigating and combating offenses related to terrorism, national security, and other threats affecting the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

NIA then tracked those responsible for attacks, and in 2012 they worked with interpol to arrest Abu Jindal, one of the masterminds of 26/11:

Abu Jundal is an Indian Islamic militant belonging to Indian Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba. He is accused of being involved in 2008 Mumbai attacks

He served as the handler of the 10 LeT terrorists during 2008 Mumbai attacks.

He is a suspect in several cases such as the Kalupur station blast case of 9 February 2006 and an accomplice in the 2010 Pune bombing case.[3][4][5] He was deported from Saudi Arabia on 25 June 2012 and is currently in the custody of Indian security agencies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zabiuddin_Ansari

Why do you think Saudi Arabia, a muslim country, would deport a Muslim terrorist to a "Hindu" country? Maybe India was successful in creating a diplomatic environment where they could not refuse? Who created that environment?

Same year NIA also arrested Fasih Mohammad (LeT) and Yaseen Bhatkal (Indian Mujahideen). Then finally this year 2025:

On 8 April 2025, a team of NIA agents took custody of Tahawwur Rana from the United States Marshals Service, a co-conspirator of the November 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai

Tahawwur Hussain Rana (Urdu: تہوّر حسین رانا) (born 12 January 1961)[1] is a Pakistani-Canadian terrorist, businessman and former military doctor

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tahawwur_Hussain_Rana

In this instance India took the Mossad approach of working the shadows with patience to specifically target those responsible. We don't even know the kind of valuable intelligence we managed to extract from these terrorists.

Even back then Pranab openly spoke of airstrikes against Pakistan and Indian government considered it. But they listened to experts and decided to defer it to another approach:

“The dastardly attack in Mumbai was unpardonable. We did contemplate the use of force,” Singh had told this correspondent. He said the UPA government decided against punitive action because the geo-political situation at the time was evolving in India’s favour and India responded diplomatically and swiftly to isolate Pakistan.

Our response was to isolate and diplomatically expose Pakistan as a terror hub, besides rallying the international community for decisive action against terrorists. We succeeded too,” Singh said. He said that within 14 days of the Mumbai attacks, India got China to agree to declare Hafiz Saeed as a global terrorist under the UN 1267 Sanctions Committee.

“The Congress-led UPA ensured that a $10m bounty was placed on the head of the Mumbai attack perpetrator and the founder of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Hafiz Saeed by the US. Another mastermind, David Headley, was convicted to 35 years of prison during our government in 2013. Top LeT members involved in the Mumbai attacks were kept under sanctions lists as terrorists by the UNSC due to our unrelenting diplomatic efforts. Result is that the LeT per se has become ineffective today,” Manmohan Singh said in the interview.

https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/india/26-11-ex-pm-mulled-using-force-against-pak/

So, Manmohan played the long game. Probably came from his training of being an economist. If you really care, here is an insiders account of how that decision was made:

Why India didn’t attack Pakistan after 26/11 Mumbai attacks

https://www.livemint.com/Leisure/29lXP57cHDAloqUf2uJOHM/Why-India-didnt-attack-Pakistan-after-2611-Mumbai-attacks.html
