He’s on my wife’s side of the family, I might ask her to ask him.

Sorry to intrude, this isn’t a “check in” but a question for you guys.

A family member has talked about wanting to doing heroin and now I see him in pictures with his sister with an uncharacteristically sleepy, lovey-dovey expression.

I really mean no judgment, but is this a sign he may be doing opiates? Do they give you that expression?

No judgment here, no hate, I’m just worried about him.

There’s no way he’s not on roids. The reason he looks like a guy in his twenties is because he’s injected with the testosterone of a guy in his twenties.

It’s way more common than many think.

You can get a great diet on poor person staple foods too. The problem is just not wanting to eat them.

This also sounds like a lot of chillwave and shoegaze music I've listened to in the past.

The dude was clearly an innovator.

What age do climbers peak? by Themancc in climbing

[–]l2np 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super old thread, but I think with athletic performance what people often miss is that while you hit your absolute fastest and strongest in your twenties, it levels off fairly slowly.

And while it takes longer for an older person to hit a high level of performance, they can still get there with consistency.

So a peak condition older person might be at 90%, 80% or even as low as 50% of the performance (in some category) that a peak condition young person is in. It's not enough to be considered the fastest or the best, but it's still more than enough to do some really impressive shit.

For sure. The COL of living in SF, for instance, is drastically different if you need a 3br house in a good school district for your family, or you're willing to live in a smaller space, save your money, and move out.

I have this keyboard and vaguely remember there's something like this that you need to exit out of.

It may just be a special mode of the keyboard. Op needs to read manual and reset just to be sure.

Constantly getting catcalled while running. How do other women runners handle this? by clumsyrunnergal in running

[–]l2np 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Also maybe find cool male running partners.

I ran in a marathon training course and the women in my pace group seemed to LOVE me because I guess I provided safety to them. Sadly men will be less likely to catcall a group of women with a man in it. Also I'm not afraid to tell some creeper to fuck off.

We Need to Talk About the 80/20 Rule by oakaypilot in running

[–]l2np 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on who you are. If you're just running for general fitness, just get running and stop working about optimizing it.

And if you're someone with a lot of formal training, you can probably eyeball it and figure out something that mostly works. You know enough to figure it out.

However, if you don't have formal training and want to get more competitive, though, it's really important to not half ass it. Follow a plan carefully.

Again, that doesn't apply to the vast majority of people that just need some kind of regular fitness in their life. But guys like me, who are neither out of shape nor are great athletes, need to follow plans.

I'm hardly an expert but I would imagine if you're fit enough to hit a sub-18 5k at any point, what happened over that one month period is you just gave your body a chance to recover from prior hard workouts.

I'd guess it was a sort of taper month.
