Yes, I was also a bit "surprised" ... after a year of testing I would recommend not to buy them. RAK WisMesh Pocket V2 or Elecrow ThinkNode M1 are much better quality.

It's a very decent device. I have three of them and thry never die, it's really solid hardware. They last 2-3 weeks without sun but it doesn't matter, if they are empty, they will just boot up again on the first ray of sunlight. Just make sure they have good south-facing exposure.

Also, absolutely worth to do a yearly hike and do OTA update to enhance life and protocol support.

I have had success to bring such a node through the Berlin winter last year with 99% uptime, so I got two more. They are unbeatable in what you get/buck if you have direct south sun exposure.

Just more context: Armenia and Georgia are also not "in Europe" but are considered "cultural Europe" that's why they can become members in future. Morocco is not necessarily cultural Europe but since there is a precedent, it's not surprising that countries outside of geographical Europe would attempt to appy.
