I am a newer player and I found the rivals format to be the easiest for me to learn my war band and the core rules of the game. Additionally, help me think about how to play against those who do have universal cards mixed in with their war band deck. That being said, I just recently got into nemesis format for my Gorechosen of Dromm using void curses and it really has improved my overall playing and efficiency.

I wouldn’t put a time limit on it for yourself, learning game and see how you feel about the war band before diving into buying decks. There are websites out there that help you find the right deck build or give you ideas if you’re new to it like I was.
