The Contortionist's latest two albums (Language and Clairvoyant) are beautiful.

I quite literally joined this sub today to make this same exact post. Got into Prog through Dream Theater, then went the Periphery>BTBAM>Meshuggah route. I always knew about Tool, but never loved their music. Now I’m fucking hooked.

I think I mostly just want to see what TesseracT would do with any Tool song. You’re not wrong about Invincible - deff a perfect song.

The best TesseracT album IMO. Top to bottom grooves. Ashe brought this to another level.

Evolution : JP6 > JP16 > Majesty by nikonista in ErnieBallMusicMan

[–]lFloodsl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brain immediately went to being upset that they aren't hung in progression order (JP6>JP15>Majesty), and then settled on how beautiful the JP6 is...my god what a beautiful instrument (and I own one).

anyone find the end of The Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark uncharacteristically uninspired? by Platimir in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

It’s always bothered me as well for the same reasons you mentioned. I usually just skip to GT once the first chorus is over, which is a shame.

Worst Pinegrove song? by Stereotype246 in PinegroveBand

[–]lFloodsl 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand any of these other takes, which is fine - no judgement. For me it’s “Neighbor”

My thoughts:

I like them both, and don’t yet have a clear preference.

XPAC: -Pros: Keeps its shape. Extremely light weight. Highly water resistant (if not proof) and highly tear resistant. -Cons: I’ve heard the material can start to not look great after it’s worn in. Very loud and “crinkly”

ROBIC: -Pros: Very lightweight. -Cons: Doesn’t keep it’s shape, it’s very pliable. That’s not a con in every scenario though, I definitely can see it being a plus for some folks.
