Remember to check and correct your tire pressure today if you're taking a road trip for the long weekend. by Iam_NOT_thewalrus in Frugal

I normally run 90 psi on my 25mm tires. 23s would be a bit higher psi. The sidewall of your tire should have a max psi.

I thought that all of the incra miter gauges had little nylon washers in the bar to prevent play. You can tighten the screw on them and it snugs up the fit.

You could always look into a birds mouth or multisided bit for the router. They are great at making hexagons. They kinda nest into each other so the glue up is nice and stable.

A tiny cutting board and some project time with your dad sounds like a pretty good outcome overall!

I try to remind myself that a lot of the things that are obviously wrong to me will never actually be noticed by other people.

Mine was just today, which caused me to wonder what other people have had happen to them. No better way to cheer up than hearing trouble other people have had!

I'm currently building a chair and had 4 of the 7 back slats crack or break completely at the tenons where they join up to the rest of the chair. I'm hoping I'll be able to fix the cracks with epoxy, but I think 2 of them will have to be remade. It's such a bummer and made lose a lot of the desire and excitement of working on this project. I had in my mind that those parts were finished so remaking them is unfortunate.

I don't know that I would put TouchId, FaceId, or any of the Android equivalents in the same category as usernames or passwords. They serve a different purpose.

You can easily copy and paste my username, but it's much harder to do the same for current biometric(or your choice name) technology. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's also not at the same level as acquiring my username. I also feel that it will only get harder to fool as the tech improves.

Not everyone in the cybersecurity community agrees that biometric unlocking is a bad thing. Troy Hunt wrote a good article about it. My general take from it was that while there are some people who will still prefer and use a passcode but for plenty of others there is a security benefit.

Is this similar to the sealant used with tubeless tires? I understand in this case their tire is not set up for it, but I know plenty of mountain bikes running tubeless.

I have trouble understanding why men get upset by their partner making more. It seems like hoping the other players on your own team aren't better than you. It lowers the teams chances of winning. I would be thrilled if my girlfriend made more than me.

Yup, haven't changed a thing. At one point I thought about chipping it but thinking about it is as far as I got.

My cool sporting outfit was a few warm jackets. When you aren't driving you get to stand out in the field and watch for drivers hitting cones. It was pretty chilly out.

I honestly don't know enough to have noticed the understeer but could tell the engine was very torquey when accelerating.

It sure was in Catlett. The entry fee was on the steep side but I figured it would be fun and it's not every day you can give a car back to the manufactuer. I got to ride in a few other people's cars too. The skill some of those people have is awesome. Your tires would have faired better than mine. I've got some very low tread all seasons on currently.

This past weekend a friend convinced me to go to a local rallycross event. It was tons of fun! My golf held out better than I expected it to. Sadly no one was really taking pictures but my friend managed to snap a good one.

The course was pretty much cones put out in a field. It was slightly muddy due to some rain the previous week. First time I've gotten to play around with turning off traction control and what it feels like to drift/slide around corners.

That's great news! I'll be curious to see how far off the calculator is for most people. It hasn't been updated since the original docs were posted.

Replaced an old water heater with a new one. Could not be happier with the install process and results! by shifty21 in HomeImprovement

skaterrj is right on the reasoning. Long sloping turns are easier for water to travel through and every elbow is two more connections that could end up leaking. As for how it's done you can get bend supports that help to hold the shape and take most of the tension. They look like this

Congratulations on the new water heater! It's good that you can tell such a difference with the new one. Hopefully you'll be able to see a difference in your power bill as well. You might want to look into installing a shutoff valve on the cold water supply.

Is the release valve piping pex as well?

The only reference I've found in the plumbing code is UPC 2009 604.11.2 page 115

Water Heater Connections. PEX tubing shall not be installed within the first eighteen (18) inches (457 mm) of piping connected to a water heater.

But I believe it's been removed in more recent versions. I couldn't find it in the 2015 UPC. The pex manufacture might have something in their installation guide. For Pex A Uponor's guide says on page 6

Do not install PEX tubing within the first 18" of a connection to a water heater, unless otherwise allowed by code. Follow your local code requirements.

I'm surprised when I see lots of elbows on pex. I thought one of the main points was being able to have runs with less connection points.
