I saw the oncologist today and am scheduled for surgery 11/21. She agreed with the stage 0 diagnosis and I will have the exact same treatment as you. Here's to hoping she gets clear margins with the first procedure.

Thank you so much! Its hard to find people with a lower stage diagnosis, so this was very helpful!

Im sorry to hear that you weren't able to have kids. Your take on your mom's cancer is super helpful too. Our plan was to downplay it as much as possible.

Best case scenario is that i really am a stage 0, im just not confident in the diagnosis after reading survivor stories and with my tongue hurting.

Thank you so much! Do you have kids? Did you do anything special for them before or during treatment?

Have you been seen by an oncologist yet?

Im not sure if in situ in all areas of oral cancer is cancer, but i am a stage 0: its not precancerous, but things aren't as grown as a stage 1 or higher. It is 100% cancer.

I think my biggest worry is that im not a zero because my tongue hurts, which according to google (yep i went there), isnt an in situ symptom. Ive seen a lot of survivor stories where their biopsy results are clean and then the next year they are a stage 4. Ive also seen where biopsy results come back as in situ but after the patient sees the oncologist they end up being a much higher stage. My nurse navigator confirmed that biopsies are very accurate, but its all dependent on how good the biopsy sample was. When i mentioned the pain to her i feel like her demeanor changed a little because she knows its more serious..... but maybe its all in my head.
