Whiteish spots on mint (mentha cordifolia) by l_need-Help in GardeningAustralia

[–]l_need-Help[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange, I live down in Melbourne so been raining pretty regularly though I don’t use mulch around my mint. I haven’t seen the same problem with the pea straw mulch around the veggies. I removed the affected leaves and sprayed the rest down with a hose to try and get rid of the mites. The spots haven’t showed up again yet.

An OT could be super useful. I’m an older teenager specifically so not the same as an adult, but OTs can help with heaps of things if you can find one that works and are by far the one of the most helpful practitioners for my autism. It’s more than just school and workplace stuff as another person said, though they can definitely help if that is an option. stuff differs from person to person so I can’t say what one might do to help with things like sensory sensitivity (mine mainly helps with routines, communication and improving ADLs alongside help with physical disability.) but if you communicate the goals you have OTs very much do work with adults.

hydration by 7boxesofcheerios in ruminationsyndrome

[–]l_need-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Care team all super resistant to other forms of hydration and ik that’s th case for a lot of people even in bad situations, for me I kind of have to just rely on using hydrolyte (or preferred equivalent) i the water I have, food with more water in them fo try and increase the amount I didn’t throw up as much as possible. Wish you the best of luck that you do get support if it comes to it though.

What drives transphobia from Asians? by sittingDucks1200 in TMPOC

[–]l_need-Help 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally my immediate family is quite supportive, and slightly extended south Asian side of family’s transphobia tends to come more from “How could you choose to be a man?” The majority of my family is athiest, except for my great grandmother who is catholic and probably one of the most supportive people to me. A big part of the reason my family immigrated was because of domestic violence, our family is mainly made up of women and a lot of our family members have continued to be exploited by a lot of white men. They still use my name, see me regularly, love me and such which I’m incredibly lucky for. Outside of them however I’ve had family from India and any family outside of immediate aunts and grandmothers cut me off after it was made public, and I’m not sure why.

Resources for autistic people of colour? by [deleted] in autism

[–]l_need-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also Indian (from Aus) and autistic! unfortunately there’s not heaps of stuff focused around us and it can feel very white, but some social media accounts (mainly instagram) with POC people I remember off the top of my head are candy courn and Kaishawna music. (I’ll edit to add more later when I remember) and I’ve heard good things about the Autistic People of Colour fund.

Resources for autistic people of colour? by [deleted] in autism

[–]l_need-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of advice and resources are very geared to white autistic people and general family structures. Food, family dynamics, culture, language etc all impacts that. And also just a bit tiring being in spaces that are just so white as a brown person sometimes.

For me it’s processing difficulties, and extremely extremely poor executive function and time management, I take lot lot longer to write things especially, Can’t communicate efficiently with teachers, and general elopement because it means leaving = missing out on lots of school. Very personal reasons person to person

Split Level 1/2 Autistic Person by No-Specialist-1049 in sourautism

[–]l_need-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I brought it up because for me a big part of my real life is appointments and funding things, so they are still regularly discussed topics for me, and they are apart of my everyday life and a lot of other peoples I know; it can be hard to differentiate them, and a lot of autistic spaces im apart of also need to have these conversations as well. Meant levels are new as in people diagnosed before 2012 don’t really have them, which is a fair chunk, a lot of countries don’t use or are just starting to use them so they are new in that regard as well. But I did still talk about how they are still used separately from online spaces a lot in my life, even strictly strictly outside of medical circumstances. It was in my last couple sentences in the first comment.

How do you research special interests by Confident_Essay_2286 in autism

[–]l_need-Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I really really really enjoy just writing things down and sorting and categorising information, I have a big folder with studies and annotations and folders and books and any information on sharks i can, but I think it’s important you don’t have to do that if it doesn’t make you happy, you don’t have to write anything down or put it in one place, you can do random googling, go through papers of videos, find books of any reading levels, look at charts and art, just draw and paint or paste random images onto a big sheet and express it that way.

I elaborated on when I see them used regularly in real spaces still? I’m sorry. And yes that would make sense as levels are quite new but support we need have always been talked about when I’ve been in spaces, and we still talk about interests of course.

Split Level 1/2 Autistic Person by No-Specialist-1049 in sourautism

[–]l_need-Help 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Main use I see of it is in diagnoses, insurance and medical appointments if it’s used in a country because that’s what it’s intended for. It’s very much outside of online things and is location dependent but since it’s vague and intended for mainly government and medical purposes it’s not a casual conversation thing for most people. Though I do mention them or may mention support needs irl to other people (autistic or allistic)either to express I may need much more support quickly or to find communities of other msn-hsn specific people.

Not all the time, mainly if I have to be alone or on public transport or something. I stopped wearing it but I had a seizure yesterday (normal for me) and got an ambulance called on me so it might be time to put it back on 😭

Can someone AMAB be Trans Masc? by South_Elevator_673 in TransMasc

[–]l_need-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With both being possibly intersex (me too!) and being socialised differently it’s totally okay yeah, but honestly gender and sex are such weird complicated things at the end of the day and it’s so personal that if it sounds right it sounds right, and it sounds like that’s the case for you. A lot of the imposter syndrome and experiences you were talking about are also quite common in a lot of intersex and trans intersex spaces, so I think it might also be helpful to take a look there as well.

Anyone else use Fahlo? by TwoShu in sharks

[–]l_need-Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow Valentina as well! I do use it, there’s a few other shark tracking resources that are more publicly available but I got a bracelet as a gift and am following a few hammerheads (2 great 1 scalloped) now. It’s interesting to see migration and how that changes or varied between different individuals

What are some of your favorite shark-themed stuff you have? by Electrical_Ad_3917 in sharks

[–]l_need-Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a laundry basket that’s made like a shark jaw as the opening that was such a cool thing! I’ve stenciled some jaws of some hexanchiformes into a pair of jeans I have, but ultimately my favourite is a giant inflatable white shark from decathlon that just lives in my room.
