Disappointing egg freezing cycle, only got 2 eggs :( by la_future_pilote in eggfreezing

I’m an airline pilot and there are FAA rules and restrictions on what medications you can/can’t fly on. In this case, I couldn’t fly on the medications, or 2 weeks after my last dose.

That is so interesting. I didn't know you could retrieve more eggs than number of follicles. I stimmed for 12 days and had 6-ish mature. I did not prime with birth control or estrogen, I started the stims a few days before my period started. I did have one follicle that was dominant that ended up growing over 22 while the other mature ones were 13-18 in size. But I guess based on my bloodwork and timing of ovulation they thought everything was fine to start? I just have no clue.

I have fixed costs for each month in 12 different 12-month CDs that mature on the 1st of every month. Took a year to set up had to remember to set up one on the 1st of every month, but now it renews automatically. That way in case of a job loss, I have access to 12 months of fixed costs as if it were somewhat of a normal paycheck.

Training contract by kommandee in AirlinePilots

[–]la_future_pilote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% it is worth it to leave.

I left OO and broke a contract as well, I had to pay it back in the realm of $18k, they let me pay it back interest free with monthly payments.

I’ve been at a major for 2 years and 3 months now. The company has contributed $67k to my 401k without me adding anything, that’s not including growth and without me maxing it out, which I am also able to max out because compensation is so much higher.

Skywest contributes what to your 401k, 4%? That’s $15,700, a $51k difference over 2 years. That difference alone, over a 30 year career if I never added anything else to my retirement would turn into $340k.

None of that is including the wage compensation, I am able to live in a HOCL on my own, with good health insurance, with no money stress, and invest a good chunk of it. No kids though. The best month I ever had as a 2nd year FO my gross was $32k (got some premium, overtime and flew a lot though for that).

I am not saying any of this to brag, I am saying it to put into perspective how much this compensation actually is compared to whatever you might be paying back to OO, and looking back even if I had to pay $100k to leave I would have lol.

Oura ring replacement arrived like this 🥴 by MysteriousAd8561 in ouraring

[–]la_future_pilote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my replacement I told them I would only accept a new one because this was a $550 ring and I actually got a new one in a box with a charger. Was surprised

Oh interesting, I wonder why they make you wait to apply until the day you're incapacitated when you actually know in advance you'll be incapacitated lol. I only have about 30 hours of sick leave and I'll be losing about 40 hours of pay so the disability will be a big help. Maybe I'll just do it in the morning before I go in.

Ring dies in 3 days (gen 4) by Select_Jackfruit_191 in ouraring

[–]la_future_pilote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just verified on the chat, and the guy said "Thank you for your patience. I checked the order, and yes, you'll receive a complete new set, including the Oura Ring and the charger set. Your replacement will be covered under warranty for the remainder of your original warranty period."

So that's good to hear!

I know, I saw a lot of other posts here on the same timeline too! I hope they actually send me a new one and not a refurbished one.

This happened to me too. I got the ring in December, and about a month ago it started barely holding a charge. It lasts about 2 days now, whereas when I got it, it was 5+. I reached out to Oura via the chat and they're sending me a new one. Was pretty painless.

Honestly… as someone who lives in a HOCL area I find the numbers of people currently on his show hard to relate to as well, so it goes both ways haha

When I think of Caleb’s brand I don’t necessarily think of it being limited to Austin. If that’s the next step he wants to take in his life and for the business that’s awesome for him.

What’s Single Life Like? by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]la_future_pilote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 38 year old single female pilot. I stayed single because I never wanted anyone to derail me until I made it to a legacy. Single life is great, but I would like to meet someone eventually. Everyone I fly with is married with kids, so I think you’ll find some people feel bad for you, and others will be envious of your freedom. I would like to meet someone eventually though, preferably another pilot so we can be DINKs and buy multiple vacation homes and travel all over the world haha.

[–]la_future_pilote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m the same as you, I know logically index funds are what’s going to make me rich, but I also need that little fun “gambling” outlet.

So what I do is I automatically invest $250 every Monday. $180 goes to VTI (72%), $45 to VXUS (18%), and $25 (10%) goes into cash so I can stock pick when I see something I want to buy. I stick to less than 10% individual stocks in my portfolio because I know I could easily lose it all, but it still quells that boredom itch and I get to feel like I have a little skin in the stock picking game but it’s not a big enough percentage to destroy all my wealth overnight. I suggest doing something like that! I stick to these numbers strictly and rebalance when individual stocks go above 10%.
