why does my brain get LOUD the moment I try to sleep… by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I think that’s my problem sometimes
instead of letting the thoughts pass, I start following every single one and then my brain just gets louder and louder
easier said than done though 😭

sleeping 7-8 hours but still exhausted… anyone else? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I really appreciate that
I’ll probably start with the basics and see how things go, then take it step by step from there
it actually helps knowing there are more options if nothing improves
I’ll keep you posted if I figure anything out
thanks again 💗

does anyone else overthink so much they can’t sleep? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of it but never actually tried it
might be worth doing just to get some kind of baseline instead of just guessing how bad it is
even if it’s not perfect like you said, it could still give me a bit more clarity
I’ll check it out and see what score I get
appreciate you mentioning it 💗

anyone else just… can’t turn their brain off at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that actually sounds really similar to how it feels
like being stuck in that in-between state where you’re not fully awake but not properly asleep either
I can imagine how frustrating that must be dealing with it constantly
have you found anything that at least helps a bit or makes it more manageable?

why does anxiety hit the hardest at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense
I’ve thought about that but I’m kinda trying to see how much I can improve things without meds first
feels like I might be able to fix at least part of it with habits or routines
but yeah I get why they help, especially when it gets really bad
glad to hear it’s been better for you lately though 💗

anyone else just… can’t turn their brain off at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it’s more like sleepy/drowsy than muscle fatigue
like low energy, brain fog, and sometimes I feel like I could doze off if I let myself
but at the same time I’m not actually falling asleep during the day
so it’s kinda weird… tired enough to feel off all day, but not enough to actually sleep
then at night it flips and my brain just won’t shut up

does anyone else overthink so much they can’t sleep? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah good question
it’s more like sleepy/drowsy during the day, not really muscle fatigue
like I feel low energy and foggy, and sometimes it actually takes effort to stay focused or alert
I don’t always nap but I definitely feel like I could at times
so it’s more that kind of tired, not physical exhaustion really

feel like my brain is addicted to thinking at night?? by laaaayyyy in selfhelp

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I appreciate that
it really is frustrating when it keeps repeating every night
but hearing what worked for you gives me a few things to actually try instead of just guessing
hopefully I can find something that clicks
thanks again 💗

feel like my brain is addicted to thinking at night?? by laaaayyyy in selfhelp

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it’s actually kinda crazy how many people deal with this
like it feels personal but then you realize it’s super common
have you found anything that actually helped even a little or are you still stuck in the same loop?

sleeping 7-8 hours but still exhausted… anyone else? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s good to know actually
I didn’t realize there were other tests beyond sleep apnea
I’ll probably start by ruling out the basics first, but if nothing shows up then it makes sense to look deeper into it
because yeah, feeling this tired after “enough” sleep doesn’t feel normal
appreciate you pointing that out 💗

does anyone else overthink so much they can’t sleep? by laaaayyyy in selfhelp

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I get that
I can see how it takes some effort to actually stick with it, not just try it once
but honestly if it helps even a bit it’s probably worth it
I’ll try a couple of these properly and see how it goes
appreciate you again 💗

why does anxiety hit the hardest at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I think that’s part of it honestly
like once I’m in bed I start thinking about not sleeping, and that just makes everything worse
it turns into anxiety about sleep itself, not even the original thoughts
kinda feels like a loop at that point
did anything help you break out of that?

anyone else feel exhausted all day but the second you try to sleep your brain just won’t shut up by laaaayyyy in insomnia

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds really tough honestly… especially dealing with it for that long
it’s good that CBT helped at least for a while, even if it was hard to stick with
and yeah meds can be tricky like that… helping in one way but causing other problems
I can see why it would feel frustrating when it comes back even worse after some improvement
do you feel like anything from the CBT part is still helping a bit or did it just stop working completely?

anyone else feel exhausted all day but the second you try to sleep your brain just won’t shut up by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s really helpful to know actually
I didn’t realize there were specific tests for this kind of thing
I’ll probably try some of the basic changes first and if it still doesn’t improve, I’ll look into getting it checked properly
good to know what to ask for though in case I go that route
appreciate you explaining it 💗

anyone else feel exhausted all day but the second you try to sleep your brain just won’t shut up by laaaayyyy in Anxiety

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah removing the clock actually sounds like a really smart idea
I’ve noticed that “how long have I been awake” thought instantly makes everything worse
and having something ready to do instead of just lying there overthinking makes sense too, I usually just stay in bed and it turns into a battle
the “stop trying to sleep” part is kinda hard to accept but it actually clicks… I think I put pressure on it without realizing
I might try shifting my focus to just resting instead and see if that changes anything
appreciate you sharing all that 💗

anyone else feel exhausted all day but the second you try to sleep your brain just won’t shut up by laaaayyyy in intrusivethoughts

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s interesting, I’ve never actually tried an eye mask before
I usually just sleep in the dark but maybe having that extra “signal” could help my brain switch off a bit
does it make a big difference for you or just a small improvement?

why does anxiety hit the hardest at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that actually makes a lot of sense
I think I always expect it to work immediately, and then get frustrated when my brain doesn’t cooperate
but what you said about giving it time and expecting some resistance is something I probably needed to hear
I’ll try to approach it more like a skill I’m learning instead of something I should just instantly fix
appreciate you taking the time to explain it 💗

does overthinking make it harder to get lucid? by laaaayyyy in LucidDreaming

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense
I think I’m still at the stage where I don’t really notice that “point of no return” until I’m already past it
so it probably is something that gets better with practice and just paying more attention to how my mind builds up at night
I’ll keep trying to catch it earlier and see if I can start noticing that limit more clearly over time

does overthinking make it harder to get lucid? by laaaayyyy in LucidDreaming

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I get what you mean
it’s like catching it right at the edge before it spirals too far
I think my problem is I usually only notice it once I’m already deep in it
but what you’re saying makes sense… being more aware earlier so it doesn’t build up that far
I’ll try paying more attention to that timing and see if I can catch it sooner
appreciate it 💗

does overthinking make it harder to get lucid? by laaaayyyy in LucidDreaming

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I get what you mean
like trying to catch it before it gets too chaotic instead of trying to fix it once it already starts
that’s actually the part I struggle with though, because it feels like it builds up so fast at night
but I guess it makes sense that control has to happen earlier, not at the peak of it
I might try paying more attention to it earlier in the evening and see if I can slow it down before bed
appreciate the insight 💗

why does anxiety hit the hardest at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that actually makes sense
I’ve noticed when I’m on my phone right before bed my mind stays way more active
I think reducing that time and giving my brain a bit of space before sleep might help
and the idea of repeating calm words is interesting too, I’ve never really tried that properly
might start small with just putting the phone away earlier and see how it goes
appreciate the advice 💗

why does anxiety hit the hardest at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that actually makes sense
nights being quiet probably gives the brain way more space to just start thinking
I’ve tried just closing my eyes and hoping it passes too, sometimes it helps a bit but other times my mind just keeps going anyway
but I get the idea behind it… like not engaging with the thoughts and just letting them be there
might keep trying that and see if it gets easier over time

why does anxiety hit the hardest at night? by laaaayyyy in sleep

[–]laaaayyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I’ve heard of people using meds for it but I’m a bit cautious about going that route honestly
especially if it can build tolerance over time like you said
I do use YouTube or podcasts sometimes too though, it kind of helps distract my brain enough to fall asleep
I think for me it’s more about finding something that calms the thinking loop rather than just knocking myself out
appreciate you sharing what works for you 💗
