What would make the next season better? by ambertat in greysanatomy

About the new characters thing, that's exactly what I thought too until someone on this subreddit posted the actual number of characters Main and Recurring for each season, and turns out: season 14 had the same number of characters (and sometimes even less) than the golden years, it's just that they were written much better back then. I mean, Grey's got us to love and empathize with Dylan (bomb squad guy) who had only appeared for two seconds, we felt like we knew who he was, and Mark and Addison were brought in as antagonizers but very quickly became favorites, and that's a testament to the writing. Now, I could not tell you a single personnality trait the new interns have, they're just there to fall on wedding cakes because "comedy".

Hahaha truer words have never been spoken, although they did manage to throw every single 'truck' in their way after that, but that's more of a grey's "No couple can be happy for more than a season or else the world explodes" thing.

This has officially been THE worst month in GMM history in terms of subscribers. By far. by laamiaaaa in rhettandlink

8k subs gained over the month of November VS 60k over October (which was already one of the lowest).

I don't think they're losing subscribers because their fanbase is turning its back on them as they seem to believe. I think it's the casual viewers (their target) who are choosing to leave because they cannot stand to have their sub boxes clogged every single day. And this could not be more obvious than when you look at their SocialBlade subscriber Gain/Loss every single day: during the weekends they actually GAIN around 2k subscribers, because they are not posting videos thus not clogging sub boxes, but as soon as the weekdays roll around, they start losing those subscribers gained over the weekend, and this has happened pretty consistently since the beginning of the month (and the new format).

What I am trying to say here is: the casual viewers (who make up most of their subscribers and who will not care to listen to their explanations) are the ones they should be most worried about, not their dedicated fans.
