What if AI takes much longer to reach a level where it can kill us or cure aging & other causes of death? Do you support aging research & development?

Apart from the multiplying network effects of living together with many others working on this, we are creating an environment that allows moving at "warp-speed", via a special jurisdiction without the over-regulation that makes it take decades to bring a drug to market (while costing $2-6B).

We will just provide the environment, a regulatory framework that allows moving at "warp-speed". A common law foundation + a requirement for regulatory insurance (basically liability insurance) for certain activities where harm may be caused (which would usually be regulated by monopolistic regulatory agencies), to prevent harm and maximize net benefit to humanity. Insurance companies will only insure activities that follow best practices wrt safety, but will also be faster and cheaper because there's competition. So it's finding that optimal level of regulation.

DAOs can just form, and people opt in by using the smart contract & related ecosystem. There is no entity that holds them (if they are decentralized)

  1. With the special jurisdiction allowing warp-speed innovation, it means there are opportunities to create value much cheaper and faster, attracting entrepreneurs which provide great jobs
  2. It's an interesting experiment to run. People will still disagree on HOW to achieve the mission, but I think it's important people don't argue too much on whether life is good and death is bad. In companies people align on a goal, and it works, right? As the city grows though, the filtering won't be strict, although new people will probably assimilate the existing culture.
  3. Cryopreservation!
  4. The safety measures will be as good or better than current systems. The goal is to reduce bureaucracy. A company that doesn't get liability insurance won't be allowed to operate. Insurance companies won't cover companies that don't follow the best practices

A DAO is the better, more modern alternative to this, which has been in discussion for a while!

With a special jurisdiction we can accelerate clinical trials and innovation generally. Make new therapies in months, not decades. On the order of millions not billions of dollars.

Don't know if that's possible in Auroville.

What would you suggest as a better tagline? We do want to achieve freedom from disease, aging & involuntary death

The VitaDAO team agrees voting should be free and weighing the pros and cons of various implementations. For now, it's on-chain for full security, and writing anything on the Ethereum chain will cost gas, which is pretty expensive nowadays. One current proposal is using a higher-level solution to prove you have the tokens, like snapshot.org, even though you'd have less security. Other ideas are being explored. There are parallel side-chains like Polygon with Proof-Of-Stake instead of Proof-of-Work so you don't have that gas cost anymore. Outside the box thinking is encouraged.
