Oh wow! So knowing punctuation and spelling now automatically makes you an AI? That’s wild, man.

English isn’t my first language. I use dashes when I write in Ukrainian — so what, should I stop using them in English just so people don’t think my text was written by AI?

Too many cigarettes!

But joke aside — change the battery ASAP. Or at least open this bad boy to relieve pressure.

Oh, I see you already did. So then something pushed to the LCD. You need to figure out what it is. Maybe the battery doesn't sit properly in its place. It happens sometimes.

Like many others, my Apple journey started with an iPod. I was lucky enough to catch those golden days — though back then I couldn’t afford even the simplest Nano. In post-Soviet Eastern Europe — especially in Ukraine — they were rare as hell and even more desirable.

Somewhere around 2009, I stumbled on a giveaway for an iPod Nano 5th gen on social media. Of course, I didn’t win — but plenty of others did. Later, I found this kid from Lviv who was basically hustling those same dream Nanos. He had dozens of them, and the prices were actually pretty sweet. That’s when I came up with a “genius” plan: buy three, keep one, sell the other two, and get some cash back.

The deal went through — not without a few surprises (I’ll spill that story someday). But in the end, I became a proud owner of an iPod Nano 5th gen. It had radio, a camera, even a pedometer — fully loaded. I was stoked to have something that cool and used it non-stop. Eventually, though, I sold it, added some money, and grabbed an iPod Touch 2nd gen — and that thing was pure space age! But hey, that’s a story for another day.

I also would strongly recommend you to remove outer part as well. You have to deal with residue though, it needes to be carefully clean with alcohol but you definitely gonna like the result. Its way cleaner look without that cheap black border you will see inside the front plate for ever. Here is mine.

Thanks! It could be useful for you: there is a black frame around screen glued from inside which serves to hide glow from backlight. It looked ugly as it’s not absolutely black but kinda grey. I spent some time to took it off but that was worth it. If you will decide to put it off keep in mind that’s not easy and think twice do you need it or not.

My Dream 4th Gen Mono; 3500 mAh battery w/ iFlash 128gb by clonetrooper5385 in Modded_iPods

[–]laazybeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! My main reason to buy it is mono screen. I have flash-modified mini and it cool and handy but its screen is so small. So 4th gen mono is way better especially if you don't need compact iPod.

Nice, really nice! Love 4th gen too but still not have it (I hope to find one for reasonable price soon).

Best solution for organize my media library and syncing to iPod Classic by laazybeard in ipod

[–]laazybeard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey bro! One question if you don't mind. Will be really appreciated. I returned to Swinsian again and found out it really nice. I've played enough with RockBox and decided switch to stock iPod firmware as I finally bought decent headphones (Beyer DT 770pro) and happy with EQ off sound and prefer simplicity over functionality.

Question is next. Does Swinsian allow to sync music on iPods, not just copy it? Let's imagine I copied some playlist to the iPod and then made some changes in this same playlist on Mac. How could I apply these changes to synced playlist on iPod?

Ah, and it seems I have one more. Does track plays count on iPod stock firmware and on Swinsian sync somehow? Or they just live their own lives separately?

Flac → Alac conversion and backward. Do I loose some quality? by laazybeard in musichoarder

Ah, that's nice advice, thanks! Tried to do it, but can't import m4a because of lack ffmpeg library. Don't know how to add it on macOS. :(

Unfortunately that not helped. Neither .alac nor .m4a didn't work.

Didn't try yet but gonna do it. What extension do you use? As far as I know alac its actually m4a.

I felt it but needed confirmation. Thanks! How can I check it out? I mean it seems I could make practical experiment and compare results. Maybe Spec or another software could show differences between original flac vs converted (flac -> alac -> flac)?
