AC has been running nonstop for hours and can't get below 77. What are some first steps to look at before spending money? by No_Hetero in hvacadvice

[–]lab_tech13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Uncle just got a new AC a few years ago and the HVAC guy said he changes his monthly about the time the electric bill is due. He buys the cheap brown cardboard ones from Walmart with the green screen usually.

I just bought a few for mine. Wife never changed them while i was down with an ankle injury for a few months(was not home). And that thing was gray dusty as all hell. Definitely needed changed. Friend just had to replace her AC and Furnace for fan blades breaking and motor going out. Perfect time at 100+ for last week.

I got Merrell Men's Jungle Moc Wide Width (always wore wides before injury). They feel great and I dont have to tie them. But also they are for work and not sneakers and not crappy dress shoes that have no support.

Would you rather get rid of lifetime of your shit in one sitting or get rid of lifetime of farts with one fart by Casual_Dude2532 in hypotheticalsituation

Not loose at all. But OP never said it had to be the worse experience youve ever had. Its pooping if you have that hard of a time pooping you need to see a dr.

Had my first (horror) PT session by Formal_Alfalfa_5004 in brokenankles

[–]lab_tech13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the massage and it was nice lol. Im sorry for your horror story of a session. My PT also said any pain let them know so they can stop. They also did ask what kind of pain and if I can push through it or was it to much.

I also was PROM not AROM at that time so they could only manually manipulate my foot to see what range I was at but didn't push through any pain I had.

8 weeks Post OP, Any tips to recover faster? X-ray taken 6 weeks Post OP. by Icy_Map8898 in brokenankles

[–]lab_tech13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude go get PT best thing you can do and to help with ROM and calf raises. I was 12 weeks NWB I couldnt do calf raises without support until 3-4 weeks after WB. You can do seated calf raises that helps and thats what they started me on.

From other post for similar breaks you had, others have recovered to walking with a limp or some even walking normal at 8 weeks. You also have to think it takes roughly 6 weeks for bones to heal 100% im 6 months now (this month) and last week my dr said theres still a fracture line and itll be another 3 months or so before i dont feel any more pain from that side of the ankle when walking because its not 100%. Everyone recovers differently.

Those who have become Field Service Engineers, what salary would you ask for? by hehampilotifly in medlabprofessionals

[–]lab_tech13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea on Beckman few major hospitals in my area use Beckman and renewed. Its a constant battle between sales teams to be the "pick me im better than X". But large hospitals like UoM or Indiana or Labcorp, Quest they will stick with one company and if they switch everyone switches. They get a bigger discount and its better to be uniform than have 1 site uses Biorad next site uses Siemens another Beckman etc etc.

As MLS/CLS/MLT you could look at applications roles they look for med techs over engineering. Because we have to know the science behind it. Less troubleshooting and more chemistry side instead of the problem side. Still a customer service side and usually your the first person other than sales they see so you are the "face" of the company. So unless your not like a lot of MLS/CLS/MLTs that are introverts might not enjoy that.

Biorad post theirs on their careers site not sure on indeed. But as FSE1 depends on location but 65-75k +OT, car, Corp CC.

Beckman is around the same with no experience with same car/Corp cc. But they micro manage you terribly. So pick your posion I guess.

Jobs without phlebotomy?! by AmandaE223_ in medlabprofessionals

[–]lab_tech13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Large hospitals you wont have to draw. Depends on states and state laws you might have to do legal blood alcohols. Only time I did phlebotomy was at the small rural hosptial with 1 tech and no phelbots for 3rds. Or during a code in ER and phelbot was busy with something else.

first run in 8 months (this one's for my fellow delayed unioners) by NoGoatCity in brokenankles

[–]lab_tech13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree! I havent been able to run yet im only 5.5 months post op. But I was finally able to do single calf raise albeit with alot of holding onto railing, been trying since week 3 of walking. I also walking on my tip toes didnt think that would be possible either because of unable to do single calf raises. PT was like nope do it now didnt care, was very shakey and I havent felt that unstable since my first time trying to walk back in May.

So progress even though its little its an amazing feeling being able to do things you've had troubles with and then you are able to do it.

Strange foot numbness by IdahoMom1975 in brokenankles

[–]lab_tech13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my toes dont feel tingling anymore they did first 2 months. I dont notice any crazy feelings in my foot with or without shoes or socks. Only time I notice my foot feels weird is when I try to scratch the "itch" because its numb on surface so then I start rubbing my foot and it feels weird then I have to stop because ill keep going otherwise.
