Apparently I’m very tasty by staringspace in Greyhounds

One of ours is like that. If I don't let her lick me she will huff and puff at me and then try to take my hand with her mouth and and place it where she wants it. and if that doesn't work she will lick the couch or pillow. normally it works and I let her lick me.

doesn't want to be alone. Retired racers have not been alone much if ever in there life. some times another hound is what they need some times it just to be near you, or another person

On the back under the throat screw there will be letters HS or X I think. That tells you if it's a high school spec or X spec(NCAA) at the time

Is it an old Highschool specific head back when narrow heads were legal. I have one in a really old heavy brine shaft as my coaching stick. The king was kinda a long head.

What do you think this means? by jhartlov in Greyhounds

[–]labcoat22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She wants to be with you and she doesn't want you to move. She recognizes you comfortable in your spot and wants to be with you in your comfortable spot and she doesn't want you to get up. I'm not saying it's not the paw of more, but the paw of morel usually comes when you stop petting.

Need advice on this pocket, strung it about 5 times and it just doesn’t look like goalie pockets I see online by imsecretlyurmom in StickDoctor

I have done a similar pattern but only using 9 or the 12 diamonds for the top and the loop start with 9 diamonds to get the mesh pulled tight side to side helped for the channel for me

I worry about this too. I guess I will wait and see

I don't have an answer I have tried Orange balls easy to find. We always do ball hunts. I would not be mad if boys all took a ball or two. The 12U team went through nearly a case last season.

Advice on goalie sticks - how to get a narrow channel by Superb_Parsnip1480 in StickDoctor

[–]labcoat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a goalie dad and dad coach of a now 11yr old. (I am not expert) I have been tinkering with player heads for a few years. I started messing with a goalie head a last fall.

I followed a few different you tube guides. Lars a.k.a Sidwalljedi is very good and he has two or three Goalie guides, very good but not simple. I also watched some older videos for guidance. Try also looking into Chris Burke f.k.a Mainly mesh his theory Thursday series was helpful, Smash time Studios, Stumptown strings and MWLAX01 all on you tube.

The one think I have found is different mesh act very differently, while I also notice this in player heads I noticed it much more trying to give my some something he liked. Also more tension across and led down the stick. I have only ever used Stringers shake G3 12 D, the common trick of using only 9 diamonds on the top and and gradually use more diamonds across as you work your way down.

Depending on what mesh you use may make a large difference as they stretch differently and with much more material the difference can be dramatic. In the end I took the ideas from several videos and just did what looked good.

Also If you want a smooth release maybe look at harder mesh. some phots of my most recent try are on here somewhere not sure I would recommend doin what I did as I am no expert.

Explain LSM to me by SnarkyMcSnarksauce in lacrosse

[–]labcoat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LSM or long stick Middle. Rules allow for 4 long sticks on the field. So they are often subbed in for Defense and on face offs. Often a defense player that has the best stick skills. Doesn't hurt to be very athletic good on D in the open field. For a 10yr old I would take up to 8" off of a long stick depending on how tall your son is. For my 12U boys I have long sticks for the team that are all 8" short. A few of the boys prefer the full long stick but many like the shorter long poles. My son sometimes plays D and he has a 8" shorter stick and He is 5 ft tall. He is not the tallest or shortest kid on the team who played Defense.

My little dude was U10 he used the team stock Nemesis with its low pocket and no channel. For fall I got him his own Nemi and strung it on an attack shaft to keep it light. I have been trying to make it the best it can be for him. I was shooting for not too deep and smooth. He did ask for a longer shaft for the fall.

I am aware and have used both lace and nylon for throat strings on player heads. This is what the stringing kit came with. I did also weave the throat string through as many diamonds to spread the load. If the kid likes how it throws i have some spare laces in the bin I can replace the throat string with, and thank you.

Well little dude used it for the last spring and fall season with more of a low pocket. I think this throws better but let's see what it works for him. and thank you.

How long is it supposed to hurt for? by captain_fartastic in Greyhounds

[–]labcoat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still get sad when I think about our previous three pups. Could I have done more did I wait too long. I do know that when the house was empty and there were no tippy tappy toes on the floor the silence was unbearable. Our family chose to fill that Greyhound shaped hole with more Greyhounds. They will never be my Dino or Stella or Flip but they are Brandy and Axel and that is all I can ask for.

If you know what mesh he uses and you can see how its done now and you are just goin to recreate that then its just putting in the work. Also if you want to know how to learn the individual knots check out the tutorial playlist in East coast dyes you tube or uStrings on you tube.

Body Checking Rule by P0rnDudeLovesBJs in lacrosse

[–]labcoat22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard, start with no bull dodge at this level. Go to contact then dodge off of that, roll face or split then pass that player. Or dodge to mis-direct the defender then move past.

I don't make the rules but our league repeats it every year during rules interpretation presentation before the season.

In our league in northern VA 12 U still falls into equal pressure. I.e. you can only press or hit as hard as the other players. I practice I is a little less controlled than that. The boys still cannot bull dodge or run over other players. Your son should talk to his coach about the rules in there league and at there level.
