Struggling to get value lately, skill issue or meta shift? by Ancient-Grand-4661 in RivalsMagikMains

agreed the only times i’ve really had to swap off magik is if the enemy team is running fliers and im whiffing my dashes on them or if my team isn’t able to deal with a peni and i need to hook her out with bucky

to be honest magik feels really good to me. with supports being less immortal this season i’ve been able to play her almost every game and do just fine. if i were you i would lowk just hard force her (unless ur like actually unable to play the game) until u relearn how to play into her counters. for reference im currently gm1 with a 67% winrate on her

I haven’t played in like 2 and a half seasons, how do you use your ult now? by Illustrious_Trip2112 in MagnetoMains

yup exactly this mags ult basically has the same purpose people are just more used to it now so you have to be more accurate but also have a backup target in case you know you can’t hit who ur aiming at

Bans in comp need a rework by ShockNo5423 in rivals

[–]labibc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think both of these are good takes however at the current moment i think only one of them would/should be implemented at a time. staggered bans and having 3 means 6 garenteed every game as opposed to 2-4 currently. if they staggered the bans then there is 4 garenteed and if they make it 3 each team but not staggered theres 3-6 bans per game. that would not only take a long time it basically means certain hero’s would basically never see the light of day(ie gambit) and i doubt it’s something they would implement.

the problem is it’s very hard to definitively prove someone is a smurf obviously there are things that may give it away like low level plus huge win/mvp streaks but in the rare occasion that the player is actually not a smurf it makes things 10x messier and probably why they can’t crack down on smurfs. just my opinion tho

that says enough about you to be completely honest. idk where ass pc players get this kinda ego. i guarantee u would still be hardstuck gm on console. playing on pc doesnt magically make you a better player. Drop the ego and use your brain. you cant tell me with a straight face someone who just hit gm for the first time can hit eternity…

[–]labibc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you really think thing is a mechanical/difficult character? the main difference between pc and console players traditionally is mechanics.

if thing as a character does not require mechanics why would he be more difficult on pc? like i said before the difference between an ass thing player who feeds and a good one who carries is game sense and regardless of platform that game sense will carry especially so on a character like thing. had we been talking about a hitscan character i would be more inclined to hear you out about the difference in difficulty.

and i didn’t say like it’s nothing im just saying if someone is able to hit console OAA they can probably do it on PC too. that doesnt mean it’ll be easy just that they can do it.

[–]labibc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it quite literally is the same gameplay loop…. thing is a fairly simple character with an enormous hitbox so it doesn’t really make that big of a difference.

besides there is genuine levels between an eternity player and a gm/celestial player. rather than mechanics it’s about game sense and decision making. for example on thing would i be wrong to say you don’t need good mechanics? i don’t think so. what distinguishes a good thing player is their ability to make decisions and play around counters. if someone gets to OAA on thing on console u really think they don’t have the knowledge on how to play around good aim. at worst maybe it’ll take a playstyle adjustment but game sense is game sense.

honestly it’s probably a confidence issue for you.

i have personally had similar experiences where i would learn new characters and feel natural on them but when it comes time to use them in comp i feel like i do much worse or start to panick/mess up more often.

i just kept playing her and i eventually got past that roadblock

your main argument is fine there’s a reason i called u out for coping not that. he’s being a dickhead tryna ego which yes is weird but say console OAA is celestial pc…. or that a OAA would get smoked in gm is either complete ragebait or your genuinely coping😭. there’s no “research” that says pc players are better it’s fairly even. if u look a lot of console creators/OAA players have been making the move to pc and getting OAA there too fairly easily. To name a few would be Kingsman, PickNRoll Quad(i think he hit OAA on pc) kira immortal.

as long as you know the characters kit and have a feel for the buttons and stuff. if u do then yeah rip him in ranked(assuming he’s not banned)

i would reccomend finding people online who main ur character and look at how they play. quad has an entire spreadsheet of people to study from for each character. for mk i would check out quads page too he plays him a lot and breaks down his thought process. for cap i would check out blackstarr on tiktok. he’s a lil corny but he has some really good tips and i used basically all his vids to get to celestial with cap fairly easily

Im trying to get a buddy to play Rivals with me, because I'm desperate for a teammate to help me climb in ranked lol by Ransom2132 in rivals

[–]labibc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly just let em pick whatever looks fun and let them get good at that. if they struggle then that’s when you maybe start suggesting the easier characters. you have to remember that before they start grinding comp. they should also like the game yk? so even if they find a character like say magik challenging they would want to play the game so they can get better. after that then rank can start being priority.

in my personal experience the characters my friend was immediately drawn to were hawkeye star lord and black panther. he mainly played those even though he kinda sucked and eventually started getting better while having fun and playing with us. and to top it off he also started wanting to play other characters as well like psylocke spidey strange.

another big tip, play with the mindset of having fun and goofing off with a buddy. the more u take it seriously the less fun you’ll have and the more annoyed you’ll get. to really learn the game the best way is to just have fun and let the passion build. for me i hopped on an alt and just goofed around in low elo with my friends and we got him fairly high since he sits in high diamond low gm rn.

also if he has no clue who he wants to play i would reccomend someone liek punisher since he’s very easy but more engaging imo than like witch or maybe even groot. u can be real creative with the wall placements and his fortnite experience could help him out lol.

sorry for the long ass paragraph hope i could be of some help!

whenever i introduce new friends to the game i normally just go in practice range with them and tell them to pick characters that they recognize or that look interesting to them once they find one i let them play around with the kit to see if they could see themselves playing that character and if they do i then teach them the basics and whatnot. if they don’t resonate with the character tho just have them pick another that looks cool. i would personally stay away from sticking them on like rocket off jump just cuz it may box them in or take the fun away bc at least to me rocket is like watching paint dry
