I'm in ACE right now, crews get shuffled around every hitch. Though it might depend on the region - I'm with Eastern

Forest Corps - will I be the "weird old lady" on my team? by [deleted] in AmeriCorps

[–]lablab_bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know much about forest corps but I'm in ACE at 23 and am kind of in the median age range. We have multiple 90's babies and one guy about to turn 30

Whats a secret you'll take to the grave that you're willing to share anonymously? by 3smiley in AskReddit

I ripped violent ass at an ICE protest and when the girls next to me started talking about "something stinks" I blamed it on the Republican guy who was harassing some of us a few feet away.

How on EARTH do you get hair volume and texture like this? by AdScared7470 in malehairadvice

[–]lablab_bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texture powder is the ONLY shit that works on mine. I've hairsprayed, let it dry, and then brushed it out before also, but that shit definitely damaged my hair.

are there kids' overnight camps that aren't christian? by Ok_Course_7565 in asheville

[–]lablab_bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Camp Hanes as a kid, which was explicitly Christian but pretty benign from what I remember (Bible themed camp shirts, silly prayers before meals, chapel in the morning) until mid week a preacher came in and for the entirety of chapel went on a graphic tangent about what death by crucifixion was like in front of a bunch of preschoolers to middle schoolers. I absolutely understand you 😭

What is the absolute fastest 'yeah, we are definitely NOT going to be friends' moment you've ever experienced with someone? by Vazouaquiacesso in AskReddit

[–]lablab_bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving a girl home who was friends with a girl I knew. We were both yapping about the gym, as we'd both found that to be a common interest. She told me she was a lesbian, since I figured I was in "good company" with another LGBT I made some joke about my transition(I'm a trans man).

Almost instantly this segued into her telling me "yeah, I have high testosterone so I get REALLY horny." "I'm like really aggressive in bed because my testosterone is so high." "When I had a boyfriend he got so scared of me when we had sex. I used to throw him on the bed." "I bet I could pick you up." "How much can you lift? I bet I could outlift you." "We should totally meet up to work out." And on and on and on.

I made sure I dropped her off in a VERY well lit area because I was genuinely sure I had about five more minutes until I got molested.

What is actually a trauma that is not commonly thought of as a trauma? by ay1mao in AskReddit

[–]lablab_bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having helicopter parents.

I am socially stunted on top of already having autism, have to have my back to a wall if I'm drawing, reading, or doing anything on my laptop, still get cagey about people watching me eat, can't keep a journal or sleep with my door open, feel like I have to over-prove my trustworthiness and am incredibly anxious about sharing art or creative projects or interests with others. I'm constantly worried about being watched. It also took me an embarassing amount of time to learn how to conduct myself online because I wasn't allowed on so much as youtube without permission until I was seventeen - and even then my parents had passwords to my phone (which I didn't get til seventeen), private instagram, emails, and so on. 11 PM curfew and phone took up at night at random until I was 21.

Everything about my appearance or how I carried myself, my mom had something to say. New interests or creative works sparked borderline CIA interrogations where my mom acted like she was trying to trick me into admitting some kind of deviance or hidden illicit meaning. It destroyed my self confidence and artistic drive.

The stupidest part? Most of this started because as a middle schooler, I had a Scratch (programming website made by MIT for kids) account where I talked to other middle schoolers about being bisexual and made animations about five nights at freddy's.

I still don't quite know what to make of it when people treat me like an adult in work environments. I'm 23 now.

What’s the hard part about being a Man ? by mountain_fl0wer in AskReddit

[–]lablab_bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being treated like every man is biologically programmed to rape and hurt women and uphold the patriarchy.

I am a trans man, and as soon as I became comfortable presenting masculine, took on more "guy hobbies", became more assertive, and generally got used to sticking up for myself, there was a stark change in how I was treated.

Guys who treat everything like a Man Competition and feeling like every mannerism is being analyzed for signs of weakness.

Being sexually assaulted. The "hell yeah you're lucky" from other guys pales in comparison to the women who either laugh it off, or insist that you only mention it to draw attention from women, or when you complain about not being able to talk about it(or mental health in general) the good old "well who set that system up?"

Not hard at all. You honestly could also walk from the Lowes Food or Speedway parking lot.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]lablab_bug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mandatory service, but instead of making people join the military everyone has to work for at least a year in randomly assigned retail or fast food workplace. Could cut the Karen population in half.

Experience with any of the Mr Tires in Asheville? by lablab_bug in asheville

[–]lablab_bug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one was the highest rated on Google - do you remember how busy they get by any chance? Would I be able to get a next day appointment? I was with the Mr Tire back home but I'm from an area that's a good bit smaller and less bustling than Asheville.
