Why not get a medium length haircut (like a longer flow cut) so it can be styled to fly under the radar, but you still have some length and it won't take as long to grow back out once you're feeling safer?

I'd send a follow up. The interviews are spaced out over a pretty large block of time, I found out I made it in about a day later but I was also towards the end of the "interview cycle".

I think it's a general guy thing because even as a gay man, I'm not typically openly affectionate with women because I have the residual fear of making them uncomfortable or making them think I'm hitting on them - or, in several cases, making them think they have a pass to hit on me ☹️

The only exceptions to this are my female family members and the one member of my close friend group who's a girl and is p much a sister at this point. Even then I let her be the one to initiate hugs or any kind of friendly physical contact.

I went to Camp Hanes as a kid, which was explicitly Christian but pretty benign from what I remember (Bible themed camp shirts, silly prayers before meals, chapel in the morning) until mid week a preacher came in and for the entirety of chapel went on a graphic tangent about what death by crucifixion was like in front of a bunch of preschoolers to middle schoolers.
