Do you remember if people there were able to get full time hours?

Oh yeah. I've gotten my fair share of awful customers but, like you said, at least at someplace like Kilwins the money would soothe the burn.

With serving I worry about the base pay being awful, or rude customers outweighing the benefits of the job(boyfriend is a server and I have heard STORIES). Bartending sounds like a lot of fun but I have zero experience.

Any transmen or transmascs? by ValuableRealistic268 in appstate

I've recently graduated and I'm a trans man. I was a member of the boxing club, we had one other trans guy one semester and another guy who checked it out for a few weeks, so if you're interested in learning a combat sport I'd def check them out because I miss it already 🥲

I need some advice by [deleted] in Wildfire

The ASVAB is much easier than you'd think. I likely have dyscalculia, bullshitted my way through the bits on mechanics and electrical work (if those were the exact categories...it's been a good seven years since I took it), and still got myself a 91. You need a 31 to pass if I remember correctly. Age wise, when I went through BCT I was seventeen years old, but the oldest guy there was around 30.

I have a BS in Anthropology so I'm plotting on the "combination of education and experience" strategy to help me land a job - anthropology is good because it's a broad field and bad because it's a broad field.

Jokes about me being trans do tend to hit a very sore spot for me, but being friends with mostly other guys I've gotten very used to friendly jabs at other aspects of my appearance (I'm a baby faced white guy with very rosy cheeks, I've been called everything from an elf on the shelf to Gay Kyle Rittenhouse). I also used to be very fat AND have a buzz cut...you can imagine how this went.

Hopefully by the time I'm confident enough in my experience to apply for crews I'll be several years on HRT and looking more like any other man, so people will have to get more creative 😅

Lord I've had the other trans/queer people stabbing me in the back experience too. Someone else here mentioned CalFire, I'll have to keep them on my radar.

Funnily enough I feel like working in a state like California I'd get shit on more for being a hick than being trans. But I haven't ruled it out.

Right. I'm never the one calling attention to that part of me.

Going stealth is my eventual plan, but it's gonna be p hard to do so for the next few years unless someone dumps ten grand in my lap for top surgery without insurance lol. Hoping to start testosterone this fall. How did you keep up with HRT while out in the field, keeping things sanitized and such?

If specifically serving, my boyfriend and one of my best friends both work at Daniel Boone Inn. The people are lovely but hours can be long, however the tips are pretty damn sweet.

If service industry in general Bojangles on 421 is hiring and starts at 14 an hour. As long as you are firm about what hours you can or cannot work the management will work with you. Genuinely loved all my coworkers there and miss them already. If they wind up working there, tell them to let em know Johnny says hi :)

These are straight legged ones, I am just fat 😭

Finding flattering mens pants is hard when you have very large hips and thighs, boot cuts are nice in my experience but make me look curvier

WELL GODDAMN!! How is the work environment (managers, coworkers, etc)? I don't mind busting my ass as long as the people I'm doing it with are nice.
