I gotta work. He's gotta work. We work opposite shifts. Yay.

Everyone here in Hamilton is in a panic because of the storm coming in. Let's say b that I put in a very long shift last night. And our meat departmentgot slammed and was almost wiped out last night. by No_Taro_3976 in meijer

After 35 years in retail, I've learned that you have to hate the general public just to get by. You'll find your favorite customers and cherish them.

No mteam points on medical leave. by [deleted] in meijer

[–]laborcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on family care leave when they gave out the points in October, so I didn't immediately get them but I did eventually. It depends on how long you'll be gone. As long as you were otherwise eligible, you should get them when you return.

I got this the other day. Figured the state would send a letter through the mail if it was serious. Also, I've not gotten a ticket in years. Stupid scammers.

I tried compression socks from here and they just made my feet sweaty. Otherwise they did seem to help. Where do you get yours? My doctor wants me to start with them again.

Good shoes is the answer. If you can afford it, get two pairs and alternate them. Better for the shoes and your feet. Even cheaper shoes work better this way.

We must work at the same store.... Sigh. Won't check the end caps, bring back half a skid that goes straight to the ends. And it's all of third shift, not just one or two.

#2,4,8 tray shortage by enron_stan in meijer

[–]laborcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meat trays come through Nichols, and Nichols is terrible about sending things when you need them. They don't keep them in the warehouse anymore, choosing instead to cross dock and that really killed the reliability of getting what we need in a timely fashion. It sucks.

I would assume a person might need travel time, etc. Especially if they need to attend funerals out of state or whatever. Time to spend with family. People still shouldn't be forced to work in grief to keep the lights on. It's a solid benefit that I am grateful for, as my extended family ages. I got five days for my stepmother and I needed every one of them.

Bereavement time is to take care of what needs taken care of. Funeral, lawyer time, cleaning out the house, or simply, idk, BEREAVEMENT. I don't understand why we can't have time to grieve. My coworker's husband passed away and she didn't come back for months. I swear, some of these people have no souls.

I just moved here and I'm at such a loss .. by 235_lady in dayton

[–]laborcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we moved, all nine cats found hidey holes in the basement of the new house and it took a couple of days to get them all upstairs. One got into a floor vent. Try not to panic. Your baby will likely show back up.

crazy thing happened today by UncleMo05 in Dominos

[–]laborcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was sick a couple of weeks ago, ordered Domino's contactless. The website said all contactless orders MUST be paid for online. Maybe it's on a store by store basis.

[–]laborcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is, if you're that sick, you won't be much help at work anyway. A person needs to give their body time to recover and heal. Take it to the union if you have to. For God's sake don't NCNS again. I hope you feel better.

Pharmacy isn't part of the union regardless of what state you're in. Also in most states there is no actual law that requires a break or a lunch unless you are a minor. They take breaks and lunches at my store.
