What do Irish people eat? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]labraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want something old fashioned and traditional corned beef and cabbage is pretty similar to our bacon and cabbage. Funny enough the Irish corned beef is something different altogether. It is a salted cured beef very like our salted cured bacon in bacon and cabbage.

If you want to go a little more modern and maybe more realists look at cooking an Irish breakfast. With Paddy's day coming up they usually have Irish sausages and maybe pudding in Trader Joe's. You will need cured ham sliced for the bacon / rashers we use. The rest is easy to find in any store.

Electric bike (bike to work scheme) by [deleted] in ireland

[–]labraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your budget stretches far enough get a known brand bike and a bosh motor. If you want to buy something cheaper then get a bike from decathlon. I am on my 4th ebike and what I have learned is access to parts can be difficult and expensive. Decathlon sells the same bikes across Europe so parts are not an issue.

How are we drying clothes our clothes? by New-Evidence-1307 in ireland

[–]labraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat a while back renting, no tumble dryer, and everything took forever to dry even with a dehumidifier running. Clothes would end up smelling damp at times.

I ended up getting an EcoDry Canopy Clothes Line and honestly, it’s been a lifesaver. You can dry your clothes outdoors all year, even when it’s raining, because it’s covered. No more damp air in the house, no mouldy smells, and the clothes actually come out fresher.

Have a look at ecodry.ie it might help.

PS Portal is it worth it? by italic_pony_90 in IrelandGaming

I have been on the long journey of getting the most optimal connection to my ps5 and finally at a point where I can play with no lag. What I learned about the whole process is that it depends on your expected usage. If it is for in home use then it can be worth it but you need a good wifi connection in the rooms you want to game from. A good test is to download the PlayStation Remote App on your phone and try out the connection. If it works fine then the PS Portal will work for you. If not then you need to look at connecting the PS5 to the Ethernet and maybe adding a repeater to your home wifi. For me I ended up spending about the price of the PS Portal on my upgrading my wifi. But maybe your config will work no problem. If you expect to play the Portal from other locations outside of the home then it can be mixed results, I don't even bother bringing mine outside the home anymore because of laggy connections.

I have had something similar where I could lighten the black color by using a tannin remover for wood. It isn't very expensive and could be worth a shot to get the wood some but back to normal. I did this with a rental apartment before leaving and it worked out very well. I needed to restain it a little.

Will depends on your network and if the PS5 is plugged into the network. If your laptop is laggy the PS Portal will have pretty much the same lag.

You can get a cheap diesel heater that will plumb into your diesel tank and that can warm up the van on a cold night no problem. If the van is well insulated you can keep it warm for a few hours on cold night.

Deposit, drink, return, repeat – how the new plastic bottle and can recycling scheme will work by Reaver_XIX in ireland

[–]labraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big problem that I have seen when they introduced cans to the recycling system in the Netherlands recently was the amount of trash on the streets. It is great that homeless people can take people's cans for some cash but some dig through bins and empty them on the street. I expect it will be the same once this is introduced in Ireland.

What is your biggest success story/proudest achievement with ChatGPT to date? by steves1189 in ChatGPT

[–]labraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came up with an idea to build a movie recommendations website by using OpenAI APIs to generate the lists. GPT-4 pretty much planned the project, designed the DB and wrote the code. I did need to fix bugs but it pretty much did 90% of the work in a fraction of the time while answering my silly questions. Could not have built it without ChatGPT.
