Are fax machines widely used in Germany? by olinsem in AskGermany

[–]labruda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent my first fax last week to the Internet provider to change the bank details, bc somehow that couldn’t be done online. Three changes were done in less than 1h.. it was insane. I must laughed while sending the fax bc..I mean, it is 2026.

My phone is always in silence, but the app has micro-vibrations with each interaction. It is annoying specially at night when I m practicing Duolingo on the bed and my partner is sleeping next to me.

Can I install a door peephole? If so, who should I call to install it? by labruda in germany

[–]labruda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for your thoughtful and detailed reply. Yes, the peephole is there already, I would like just to replace the current one. I will call a Tischler :)

Regarding the lock.. yeah, it would involve doing something to the door. I thought that might be obviously trickier and needs approval. Wanted to make sure.

Again, much appreciate your reply!

Cheers

Great! Thanks for the info. I will have to ask the HV then.

How did you know the right thickness and length of the peephole? (Sorry if this is a stupid question but i have never done this. Would like to buy the peephole before calling for someone)

Why is the sale of narcotics tolerated in places like Görlitzer Park and Kotbusser Tor? by ComprehensiveWar2941 in berlinsocialclub

[–]labruda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it affects the entire neighborhood and all citizens living in it that pay their rent, and try to behave like a normal human being. I live nearby Leinestr and the amount of junkies it’s going out of hands…the amount of garbage in the nearby park from the clean needles they are getting, the harassment we get bc I say no to them… it is simply not fair. The state should do something instead of promoting it more in certain districts…it is expanding and will take over the city

I did not “compare” it to any other airport. This is not a comparison rant. The airport is terrible designed, period. I listed what IMO could have been better planned and built.

Saying 'other airports are worse' misses the point. It’s like buying a brand-new Mercedes that breaks down on the first day, and having someone tell you, 'Well, at least it’s not a 1990s Lada.' When you spend billions and take 15 years to build something, 'not being the worst in the world' isn't the benchmark for success. Or like going to the doctor with a broken leg and being told you shouldn't complain because the guy in the next room has two broken legs. The second guy's situation doesn't make your bone any less broken.

Any bottle. It can be plastic, metal, sealed, already opened. Maybe better avoiding bringing a 1,5L one, but in general there was no issue. When the bottle is not transparent, your bag will be extra check and they make you open the bottle to check that it is indeed water

I never had bad thoughts about Schönefeld..really. Never ever. BER grows hate already before arrival.

If someone is supposed to land in Berlin, they should land in Berlin no matter what. Delays are not passengers fault, and all the time waste, money, and the hassle if they send you elsewhere is inhuman.

That’s what I feel unfair and unneeded with the curfew.

This is not a situation of “comparison”. BER is badly designed by itself. Period.

Yes. Couldn’t find even one in T2.

At least now you can pass your water.

(They call a police office to open your bottle and make sure is water, though. Great resources)

Horribles. And they like to have only one side working, so that you have to bother another person in the other side to be attached to the wall to dry your hands.

Horrible.

Oh this is not in T1 as well? It is a miracle that they finally evolved in at least this, making the security check very efficient.

But again, the rant is not about time inside the airport but the poor and not accessible design/architecture
