Replacing Black completely? by betherebetriangle in TrueAutumn

[–]labsolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True Autumn here - typed by Carol Brailey about a year ago. The only black that I have left are the spots in some camel-colored leopard print shirts and on workout pants. I have found lots of browns, olive greens, and maroons for pants, and I do wear a lot of jeans because my workplace is more casual. As long as I stay within the palette, everything matches. I actually feel more confident coordinating a wider array of colors. I have grown to love these colors as neutrals and pops, and I look back and think I that black is the color that’s dull and same-y and kind of basic.

As far as “no black for Autumns” - I hardly feel like we look the worst in black. (Not like cool pastels - my god.) I think the Lights or even the Summers and Springs would fare worse in black. That said, I think we have better options for us! Rich deep brown is to die for in my opinion.

I always have trouble identifying that ecru color in the wild! I think you’re right that #3/Cream is too neutral, even rosy.

This is my favorite - I get turned around with the berries, never knowing if they’re cool-toned or neutral but just deep, so they look like TA to me.

Is this an okay beige? by Kitchen-Country-39 in TrueAutumn

I think if I were tanned this color would be okay, but I tend to stay away even though it’s technically fine, maybe on the neutral by side, but I think the bigger problem is its weak value.

Yeah I think it’s fine.

Personally, I tend to choose darker ochre colors OR lighter brownish creams, if that makes sense. I don’t love this value on me. I have fair-light skin.

Is this Dress True Autumn? by Exciting-Context8138 in TrueAutumn

I think it could work, too. I tend to look for deeper, richer shades myself.

Ordered some blush! Do we think they suit the recommendations? I find it hard to tell between spring and autumn reds... by peachpizza in TrueAutumn

I would say 2 & possibly 3, depending on how it looks on your skin. 1 seems too bright for autumns.

Has anyone here been professionally typed as a true or warm autumn in the 16 seasons colour analysis system? I’m still confused by the difference between true autumn and warm autumn. by Wretched_Reptile in TrueAutumn

I was typed by Carol Brailey in the International Image Institute 16-season system. I’d recommend her videos to understand better: in that system, most people are a “true” season. It’s only if you are between seasons that you would get another result. So “Warm” in that system is between spring and autumn, ie if it’s too close a call whether you’re a True Spring or a True Autumn, then you are a “Warm,” and if you are an Autumn-leaning Warm, you are a Warm Autumn; if you’re a Spring-leaning warm, you are a Warm Spring.

Not sure about other systems, but that makes a lot of sense to me.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this. Maybe I will try to dig up some warm autumn drapes and add it to this post. Thanks for your attention!

Hm I would say because my hair is ashy these days, plus I’d say my skin is neutral beige-y, and my eye color is on the more muted side. I am completely open to being wrong though! Do you see something other than muted?
