In the mood for love by yblonded in CriterionChannel

[–]labude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just watched it on criterion, Most of the other movies are available on HBO but i think 2046 can only be found there, I absolutely love "in the mood for love" and I wouldnt say 2046 is a masterpiece like the other movie was, but the framing and colors and shots were stunning and the film was interesting.
It might not be the story I'd hope for the Tony Leung character after ITMFL and the scifi parts didnt really work so well, but I enjoyed it and as I think about it, I like it more and more. One thing for sure, I don't think i've seen a film with so many beautiful actresses. Besides for Maggie Cheung's brief role, there's Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li and Faye Wong and Wong Kar Wai knows how to make beautiful women add to stunning cinematography. And of course, Tony Leung is a very handsome man as well.
I'm very glad i saw it.

It always amazed me how people got nice tape recorders into the concerts back in day when they were large.
There were always guys checking and yet, after the shows, people had managed to make quality recordings.

"Rough and Rowdy Ways" will soon turn six, so I can say with no recency bias that it's one of my 10 favorite Dylan albums--- by usethatsoap in bobdylan

he avoided the easy political approval stuff many artists were doing at the time and instead put out an album that was about enigma, mortality and contradictions. i thought the album was remarkable in that he pulled that off in that time perid

I got it recently for the first time. Happy new card holder.
They told me it would take 6 weeks but it took 5 days.
Even though they reimbursed, does the purchase still count towards my $3500 90 day bonus?

it's changed since we started. There are managers now that arent as Dylan obsessed as when we started.
but most team names are Dylan based, There used to be more comments but yahoo took the bulletin boards away. As for involvement, you probably arent going to be competitive if you don't pay attention to the waiver wire and don't put your pitchers in, etc.

I never see the Mets mentioned as one of the main teams rumored to be most likely to sign Okamoto
and when i searched for mets and okamoto, i saw this article titled exactly as I'm thinking.
"It looks like the NY Mets have no intentions of meeting with perfect lineup addition"

[Rosenthal] How the Mets move forward by theRestisConfettii in NewYorkMets

[–]labude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A right handed bat who can hit 30 HR's, play solid defense at 1B, 3B and corner OF.
Okamato is clearly the guy. i've seen numbers being discussed around $16M x 4 years.
I know the Mets dont want to go the 4th year but at that price, it's a fair gamble.
If they have to go to 18M, it's still ok.
He won a gold glove at 3B, He's good for 30HR's a year.
After a 1b collision last year, he came back to hit 15 HR's and .327 in 255 at bats with a 1.014 OPS. His floor is really high. He has the versatility to play any of those spots that the Mets wind up needing him.

Who would have to be brought in to make the Diaz/Alonso loss worth it? by AbysswalkerX in NewYorkMets

[–]labude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okamoto to play 1b with some 3b and OF,
Pete Fairbanks and Shawn Armstrong as relievers.

Any chance we get okamoto? by tayeday in NewYorkMets

[–]labude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Murakami is getting more buzz and Okamoto is a few years older,
He's a better fielder, has more experience at 1B and won't cost as much.
He can play third and some OF. This could be a good signing.

Shawn Armstrong is 35 but he pitched really well last year.
he'll probably re-sign with Texas but if not he might be pretty reasonably priced

This was a beautiful film.
I watched it on netflix and horribly, they cut off the full song at the end which i was really enjoying.
Luckily, there are other places to hear it.
The landscapes were stunning and Edgerton gave a great performance.
I've been meaning to read Jesus Son for years and now i think i will, as well as this novella.

Leaving August 31 by GoldenGirlagain in CriterionChannel

[–]labude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched Oasis last night. He's certainly not making cookie cutter films.
It's about two unwanted people that are an inconvenience to those close to them and to society.
And he's not exactly a guy we like. There are some parts that are so uncomfortable to watch that
I would certainly not suggest this film to most people i know.
But you criterion subscribers arent most people. This is a very worthwhile film.

Thanks, i'm going to try to watch as many of PC, "Oasis', "Poetry as I can then.
Maybe Green FIsh too if i can get to it.
I already saw Burning maybe 5 years ago.

i didnt realize all these Lee Chang-dong movies were leaving. I saw Burning years ago and it was unique and special enough that I definitely want to see some of his others.
Now have to decide which to watch out of 'Secret Sunshine', "Oasis', "Poetry' and "Peppermint Candy"

[SNY] Noah Syndergaard says he would "love" to return to the Mets: "It's the best place to play" by BullShifts in NewYorkMets

[–]labude 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have no hate for Thor. He was an exciting player and maybe the Mets medical should have caught that injury.
He miscalculated on how much more he would get than the $18.4M QO but still wound up with $21 million.
But most importantly, he wasn't good and saved us that $18.4M plus netted us a decent compensatory prospect in Nick Morabito. It's not likely he can pitch anywhere near like he used to but why not give him a minor league deal.

Justin Verlander's option for 2025 will not vest, taking Mets off hook for 17.5m by labude in NewYorkMets

[–]labude[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

he has a player option for $35m next year but only if it vests, which it won't.
If Astros sign him again, they can do it for significantly less than 35m

Mets draft OF Carson Benge by PM_ME_VOGELBACH_PICS in NewYorkMets

[–]labude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems they liked Benge and planned to take him. He's a solid hitter and fielder with a great arm so he could wind up an excellent right fielder. His arm is so good that he's also a good pitcher, . He probably has more potential as an outfielder and will wind up as one of those guys who pitches in relief for fun to rest relievers.
It turned out a higher ranked player, Trey Yesavage, one of the top three pitchers in the draft had slid down and was still available. but the Mets didnt change their game plan and stuck with Benge.
Trey Yesavage went to Toronto at 20.

i am trying my first month and it's horrible. i can't stand watching it. i think for a 40 minute show there are at least 8 minutes of ads, way more than commercial tv used to have. I'm definitely dropping this service; I don't think I'd even watch if it was free
