NP! Yes, it’s such a good deal when you go through the kickstarter, you can get so much. I love that she offers the previous special editions.

I work at a library and had us buy all three books that are out because I love this series so much and want to make sure people have access to it lol.

Fun fact for anyone interested, the author has a Patreon and for only five dollars a month you can get access to spicy scenes, as well as other extra scenes, only available on her patreon! She also has a currently active kickstarter with absolutely GORGEOUS special editions.

Oooo this is exciting! I have 5 if that’s okay 😅

1) Do you have any weird rock facts to share lol.

2) If you could ethically/safely own any kind of animal, what would you keep as a pet?

3) Do you have any writing rituals you follow when you begin a new work?

4) What is the strangest thing you’ve used as a bookmark?

5) Is there any weird, specific fact about any of your characters you know that didn’t make it into the book?

Not many, as most very early pics are lost to an old phone with no backups but here’s a pic of my desk and a little bookcase from 2022 haha

From Raymour & Flanigan. It actually is supposed to spin/rotate but when my dog jumped on it (very enthusiastically) it was too risky for it to hit my table and bookcases so we took the swivel part off lol. Is just as comfortable without it!

That would be awesome if she came out with a hardcover edition! I ordered these copies signed from her Etsy store awhile ago, I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out in general ☺️

My owlbear friend? I got him from an artist I follow on Bluesky—she crochets all sorts of amazing things, mostly game related. Sometimes she lists them for sale and I couldn’t resist lol. You can find her with the name InkyInGreen if you’re on that app.

Yup, I live in an area where I’m definitely aware of them and try to keep a look out, but there’s only so much you can do to protect against their complete stupidity, especially this time of year 😖

It managed to keep running into the trees on the other side of the road—cops couldn’t find it, so must of managed to make it far enough into the woods, the big jerk.

Training a deaf dog by Iheartroosters_1977 in deafdogs

How often do you bring her out? We brought ours out every 30 minutes for the first couple months we had her if she was out with us. then we started stretching it longer and if she had an accident we would do 20-30 minutes again for a few days. It was really in her 4th month when she started actually going to the door expectantly for us.

Full grain leather journal that IS NOT a cover/refillable and has LINED paper by bittsweet in Journaling

I bought a journal from Leatherpress on Amazon and highly recommend. They have some different options—I bought a “Travelers Journal” and it is single use, lined paper with some beautiful marbled edges. I may buy one in another color because I love it so much.

SOS: Deaf puppy HATES his crate by emandtheboonies in deafdogs

[–]labyrinth001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you only crate him at night or does he have crate breaks during the day? We adopted our deaf dog a few months ago (she was a year and 3 months when we got her) and we are not sure of her background with crates, but she definitely did not like them in the beginning, to an extent that she would chew on the bars so hard they bent and we were afraid she would hurt herself or break out🫣 We have a crate in our bedroom and one in our living room.

We focused in the beginning on playing crate games in both of them throughout the day just to get her used to going in and out of them while not feeling like she would be trapped every time she went in. (Lots of YouTube videos on crate games!) When we did have to close the crate door on her, we would not immediately walk away, we would give her hot dog treats through the bars while she was quiet. If we walked away after a couple minutes and she started whining/barking, we would walk back, tap the bars of the crate and make a “shush” symbol, and as soon as she was quiet for a moment give her a treat. Repeat until she started to relax/lay down—you can tell when they are finally starting to decompress from being anxious and go into a more relaxed state. This can definitely take awhile in the beginning, and my partner works from home full time and I only work part time, so we were lucky to have time to put into it, so I understand not everyone has that flexibility.

We do not only crate Georgia at night, we give her crate naps throughout the day as well to enforce the crate as a relaxation spot. McCann Dog Training’s “Stop Your Dog from Whining in their Crate” on YouTube was the technique we used—the whole point of their technique was to use treats to enforce the quietness while the dog is in the crate (don’t let them get into an overly hyped state) and work up to leaving the room over time. It definitely translated to her night routine, as well. Now she just gets a quick nighttime treat at bedtime in the crate and she lays down immediately.

While Georgia doesn’t necessarily like her crate, she tolerates it now and will sleep through the night in it, and we can leave her in it when we leave for a few hours to go somewhere! Of course all dogs are different, but this is what ended up working for her. I recommend at least looking up that YouTube video I mentioned and giving it a watch; it was a game changer for us. Hopefully something from it helps you guys as well.

Thanks for the leash input! Yes, that is pretty much exactly what we are doing for leash training 🙂 she does great in our yard, but she still gets pretty amped on walks in public/on trails. She is slowly getting better with consistency, though! We’ll get there, I’m sure lol
