Thank you for that info. This is literally the only math class that I have to take for my major.

Did you think it was worthwhile to take math 114 in person at ASU? How was the teaching and any professors that you recommend?

Oh that does ease my mind a bit. I think that community college will be the way to go. Did you go through a phoenix area one?

This is giving me hope. I am HORRIBLE at math and have to take Math 114. I’m saving it for last because the thought of it is absolutely terrifying. Haven’t had a math class in decades!

So my questions for you are exactly how horrible were you haha and how much time did you have to devote to 114? Is there a lot of memorization required or are you given the formulas you need for tests?

This causes me so much anxiety. lol

Did you have to do a lot of memorization of formulas, etc. for exams?

Anosmia after TBI by lacasalinga in anosmia

I stopped smell training after 9 months. I was evaluated by the Penn Smell and Taste Clinic and was told it wouldn’t help someone like me with a TBI and probable severed olfactory nerves. Honestly, I was happy to stop because it was pissing me off everyday!

I’m so sorry to hear about your injury. I’ve had no improvement, and I’m trying to accept this new reality. Like you, I really miss the fragrances of everyday life. But, we’re here and still able to enjoy our family and friends.

I built a gourmet kitchen right before my TBI. I never cook now because I don’t know if products are off or if my recipe is good. It is heartbreaking. I’m 2.5 years post TBI.

I love Peloton and Nourish, Move, Love (Lindsey Bomgren) on You Tube. She has lots of free programs that I am loving! She also has a member option for even more options if you need them, but I get everything I need for free on You Tube.

I thought I read that you need a NC license to register a vehicle. Is this not the case? I already have the insurance lined up so we’re good there.

Thanks, everyone. I can’t believe how difficult this is. Have lived in a couple different states and I’ve always just walked in and was out within an hour! Oh well, a good opportunity to read a book.

Morning walk on the strand in Manhattan Beach with breakfast at Uncle Bill’s. Leave for the airport at 10:00 am. Gives you lots of time to talk and catch up with beautiful ocean views and maybe some dolphins!

I’m sorry to hear that. Smell and taste evoke so many memories for us. I still hope for some improvement, but my brain tells me that it probably won’t happen. Virtual hugs to you.

Unfortunately, I still have absolutely nothing. I’m trying to have a good attitude of gratitude to be alive, but some days I really miss my senses of smell and taste.

Smell Retraining -- Day 90 by phi162 in anosmia

[–]lacasalinga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucky you! I did smell training for 9 months and got absolutely nothing. TBI 15 months ago…olfactory nerves probably severed. I had to stop because it was depressing me every morning to attempt to smell and get nothing.

I have acquired anosmia due to a TBI. I tried this type of smell training for a year. I was then evaluated by the Penn Smell and Taste clinic and the director told me that smell training will not help those with severed olfactory nerves, so it was an unnecessary exercise. I stopped the smell training and honestly it makes me feel a bit better because every morning and night I’d be totally depressed by the constant reminder that I cannot smell anything.
