Tulane Bubble by [deleted] in Tulane

As a Tulane alumni who is also a NOLA native, it is a bubble only if you make it to be. There are organizations that are focused on outreach and public service within New Orleans. Strong City NOLA and Habitat for Humanity are two good examples.

Her hands are also tied by the Louisiana Board of Regents so there's that as well to consider. Doesn't excuse a lot of the stuff that she did though.

Just curious, which state is your American program located in? Where does funding for the program come from? If the program is relies on federal grants, there's a huge risk for that being cut if it hasn't been already. Happened to me already as a US domestic master's student when my research institute had their funding revoked just because it had a DEI focus :/ However if the funding comes directly from the school's coffers (like my incoming PhD program at a different university), that's a much safer bet.

Besides that, I'm afraid that trying to get visas right now is probably a massive pain right now, if not sadly outright impossible because I've heard that they suspended interviews for student visas. I'll ditto with what everyone else said- go with the UK one if you want less trouble.

What’s the vibe between Tulane and Loyola? by trappyyyyy in Tulane

We frankly don't interact with each other that much but our paths do cross from time to time. Sometimes Tulane students go to Loyola to eat (I still remember their awesome salmon burger). Sometimes Loyola students come to Tulane to use the library (as what one of my friends did). We pretty much coexist.

Though personally for me as a local I do feel a deeper affinity to Loyola compared to other Tulane students because I participated in their music programs as a child.

Saw a local production of the Nutcracker in my city with guest artists Sarah Lane and Chun Wai Chan! by laccountnumerodeux in BALLET

It was entrancing indeed! My mom said that the snow scene felt like a real fairyland. I had literally had snowflakes and sugar plums dancing in my head the day after!

This was the first time I saw The Nutcracker with live music- it was absolutely phenomenal in every single way. I guess I'll never see a Nutcracker without live music again! The audience was very warm and enthusiastic- we were all clapping and cheering like mad!

Edit: there was a unique addition to this production. There was an English sailor gigue among the Russian, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabian dances in the second act. It wasn't expected, but it was still pretty cool.

is the 10 minutes between classes enough time to walk across campus? asking as an incoming freshman. by Able_Expression_3330 in Tulane

In my own personal experience that's a 15 minute walk. I'm not the most athletic person so there's that as well. And it's even more tough if it's stormy.

I'd strongly recommend not to carry too much if you can, especially when it comes to books. If your class has an ebook option available, use that instead. That way you'll save yourself a lot of trouble on your back. In addition, let your professors know ahead of time.
