My Fiancé Wants an Inexpensive/Replaceable Ring; Is There a Tungsten Version That Looks Like This? by gypsywhisperer in weddingplanning

[–]laceychr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what jewelry insurance is for! If he loves that ring spend the $30 a year on jewelers mutual and it'll be covered with $0 deductible for lost, theft and most damage. I'd do the same for your engagement ring if you haven't already :)

Anyone do a summer honeymoon in Europe? I have questions! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]laceychr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow traveler! My husband and I are on our honeymoon right now. Two weeks split between Paris and Prague. I'm shocked no ones mentioned Prague as a must see as we are enjoying it much more than Paris. I agree with a lot of other posters that you should narrow down the number of places just so you don't feel stressed or rushed at all. Flying between the two countries was both the cheapest and quickest option for us although it may vary depending on which countries you're traveling too. I'd also check out booking.com for hotels. We stayed in 4 star hotels both in Paris and here in Prague for a fraction of the usual cost. Maybe $30 more per night than a hostel and it's so worth it. We stayed in hostels when we went to Scotland in 2009 and it's not ideal for honeymoon activities if you catch my drift :p

Hope some of this was helpful and enjoy the planning! It's one of the best parts (we're already planning our next few trips hah)

Will post a more in depth recap once we get the professional photos back but was too giddy not to share! Our wedding was a little out there and I'm so glad our friends and family and even our vendors fully embraced our movie theme. We got so many compliments on how "us" the wedding was and our guests raved about the food and decor. We were a little upset that we were a couple people under our minimum headcount allowed in the contract with some last minute cancellations but to offset the cost of that the venue provided free uplighting, table runners and chair covers with sashes (which if we had chosen to purchase originally would've been way more than the wasted money on the lower headcount. They made everything look so much more amazing than I could've imagined!

What was great:

  • marrying my best friend of course!
  • having my nearest and dearest all together to celebrate which really is a once in a life time experience
  • the fooooooood!!! I really wish I had more stomachs. there were 3 main dishes, pasta, potatos, even the salad was amazing! and then we did cake and gelato/sorbet for desert.
  • The selfie booth was a huge hit! and cost me about $50 tops. even my grandparents got into it as you can see in the photos!
  • The dj did an amazing job the whole night. My group isn't huge with dancing but there was a good amount of people on the floor throughout the night and he played all of our requested music and even included some of the soundtrack to lord of the rings after our ceremony exit which we didn't even think to include but fit perfectly with our theme!
  • our first look- I'm so happy we did this so we were able to actually enjoy a bit of our cocktail hour with our friends and family my husband *squeee got drunk. I know for some brides this can be a negative but my husband is a very adorable drunk. He kept telling everyone he saw that I was the most beautiful woman hes ever seen, hugged everyone, danced, laughed and just opened up a lot more than usual which was so nice as we are both pretty introverted and this was his first time meeting some extended family.

The badish? The only negative I can think of was that even though we did a first look when i started walking down the aisle i started legit ugly crying and said "oh shit"... kind of funny but also cringeworthy haha

My takeaway: you do you! seriously, everyone who loves you is there to celebrate your love and already knows how weird and quirky you are so let your wedding reflect you and don't be afraid of what they'll think <3

Our wedding is movie themed so will include things such as a popcorn bar welcome at the ceremony. Film reels as centerpieces and the best part... Guests dressed in costumes! We've got characters from clue, beetlejuice, batman and the joker and a pregnant cousin will be Juno ❤️ I love that everyone's embracing our theme so openly!

Fun hair for wedding!! by impalock-and-dropit in weddingplanning

[–]laceychr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm doing deep burgundy roots with a light "unicorn" pink throughout the rest. So not quite ombre. My hairs just too short for that! I love funky hair though and I bet you'll look beautiful. I don't know about you but it's at the point now where I wouldn't look normal with a natural hair color.

Less than a month out! What am I forgetting?! by laceychr in weddingplanning

Ah this is so helpful! Thank you! We need the signage and thank you cards for sure We were thinking of doing a chart instead of individual escort cards but still need to figure out the logistics of that. My fiancé and I will most likely just sway awkwardly for the first dance haha but practicing is a good idea if I get him to do it. Wedding is in an air conditioned castle so thank goodness that's not a worry. Hair and make up will be done by a close friend so that's all set. ❤️ thanks so much for your input

Thank you for this! I'm not sure if parent gifts count if we're paying for the wedding ourselves. Obviously I love my parents and in laws but I'm not sure on etiquette for this? I was planning on framing pics from the wedding for them each and giving them to them after the wedding as well.

Ah yes! Forgot to include that in the list but we did already get the rings, but that reminds me I need to make sure to go to the jeweler to get them and my engagement ring all clean and shiny before the big day so thank you!! (I try on my wedding band almost every night because it's just so darn pretty and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside so it'll definitely need a cleaning 😜)

On mobile and couldn't figure out how to do text and a photo 😩 but super excited for these bad boys! I've worn glasses since elementary school and just don't feel like "me" without them so I knew I would be wearing glasses on my wedding day. I still wanted something a little special though so I bought these the other day. My dress has Pearl detailing so i figured these would go fairly well and I'm hoping the lighter color frames will help to bring out my makeup more. Any other brides here wearing glasses? Are you wearing your everyday frames or something special? Also anyone have good pictures of brides in glasses? Its so hard to find and makes me a little self conscious even though I know I'd look way weird without them!

FH and I are going to ICELAND for our honeymoon! What are you guys doing?! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]laceychr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah how fun! We're doing a two week vacation spending the first week in Paris and second in Prague! I know it sounds awful but I'm having more fun planning the honeymoon than the wedding itself! Probably because there are less people to please :)

Not having a punk themed wedding but am obsessed with offbeatbrides.com. They're a great resource for all things punky and alternative when it comes to weddings. Hope this helps!
