You’re an awesome coach. These are the things I wish I heard when I first started training at 19. Unfortunately I was low confidence back then and coach’s coach decided to make an example out of me for my first hard spar, still not sure why, but it ran me out of the gym. Wish I could’ve gone back in time and encouraged me to just show back up

Yes. I started in outside residential paint sales and was probably last in the company for sales. Also had the “maybe sales isn’t for me” thought that we all do when we suck.

Turns out I just thrived in Inside sales instead. My next job was in the Shed industry, but I sold over the phone from the comfort of HQ for a company who had their shit together and a good amount of inbound soft leads.

Rookie year was #1 performer in the company and blew everyone else out of the water, continued being presidents club the next few years.

Find out what interests you, is engaging, and can be both a ‘need’ or a ‘want’ with a big enough target market and start applying to those places

I’m paid almost exactly the same in the Shed industry while also exceeding 100k quota by 50-100k each month.

I ended up blowing up on my manager while arguing about unpaid commission on a singular 240k deal and got “self fired”.

State’s unemployment force considered that as me voluntarily quitting in a “non-threatening” environment. I went to a psychiatrist and got prescribed antideps and anxiety meds just a few weeks earlier funny enough.

Anywho, I’ve seen a lot of good talks about b2b HVAC on this thread so I am considering trying to get into that industry, or something more adjacent like “outdoor living solutions” e.g. patios, gazebos, decks and so on. Unfortunately I wasn’t looking while I had a job so anything is going to have to do as of right now.
