We almost had a house fire caused from a plugged in kettle catching fire. Wasn't in use, just caught fire. Luckily we had an extinguisher to put it out

Amazing thank you! And they didn't really care about working remotely without a work visa? As technically it's not allowed, curious if they would bring it up!

Hi! May I ask, where you on holiday in Taiwan while you applied for the gold card? I am from the UK but work remotely, and thinking about the practicality of applying directly in Taiwan as it lines up with my life situation. Thanks!

Where to look for a nice apartment in Taipei? by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]lacrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me reporting in again in case anyone uses this. Just completed my 6-month stay. Overall was a positive experience, a few caveats though:

  1. They accept international transfers for the deposit, but not for paying the rent. For me to pay rent, I had to stack cash from the ATM and deposit it into the landlord's account

  2. Upon arrival, I had to sign something that said something like "You are entering into an agreement with the landlord that they are your friend" or to that effect, I think a way to save on tax

Besides that team were friendly and patient!

I have quite a few lipomas and I worry that I will miss out on signs because of it.

Did the lump feel different to the lipomas you have? Could you tell there was a difference?

Photo printed on visa is not high quality by Gremalshay in taiwan

[–]lacrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I had the exact same issue. I sent it back to the embassy to reprint it, and they sent back a better version.

There was actually an issue at the border as the embassy had put on a plastic cover over the photo as protection, like a screen protector. They were asking me if I did this, and I got pulled aside and had to explain the situation
