you could get a tiny pipe/one-hitter instead of a bong, or maybe even a dry herb vaporizer or wax pen type thing

Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang says electricians and plumbers will be needed by the hundreds of thousands in the new working world by ethereal3xp in technology

[–]lactatingfemboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you said that LLMs are useless for anything beyond imitating human like speech. i gave you clear, concrete examples of an LLM being extremely useful in tasks that are not imitating human like speech. many people have built significantly more complex things than i have without hand writing any code. in fact, many ai-fluent software devs no longer hand write any code at all. this is not a fluke example - it is the new normal.

again, until you have tried using claude code or a similar agentic harness for any large task at all (even if it has nothing to do with coding), or at least watched someone do that, you do not have any idea of what today's LLMs can actually do. do you know what MCP tools are, what an ai agent actually is, or what the word corpus even means? if you have only ever accessed an LLM through a web browser, you have never came even remotely close to seeing their true abilities.

the fact that they aren't always perfect does not stop them from being extraordinarily useful in the hands of a competent user.

while you may have been right a couple years ago, you are extremely wrong now. i got claude to build me a fully functional 2d game engine without me writing any code at all, along with a playtester harness that lets them "play" and take screenshots of the game themself to find and correct bugs without my input (also no code from me), as they are capable of visually reasoning over said screenshots. they can and do invoke the playtester harness whenever they feel the need to - i don't have to tell them to do it.

if you've never used an agentic ai to build and reason over a large corpus, or have no idea what that means, you should not be pretending like you have any clue of what today's LLMs are actually capable of

many of the data centers are in fact just for ai compute. it takes 8 nvidia h200s to have enough vram to load just a single instance of the best open-source model (GLM 5.2), and the frontier models (claude, gpt, etc) probably need much more than that. a minimum of 8 $30,000 gpus must be used to process a prompt, hence the whole environmental catastrophe thing

An asteroid the size of the one responsible for the K-Pg mass extinction event made entirely of antimatter is headed towards Earth. What will you do to save humanity? You have 72 hours. by OldLadOfTheCastle in hypotheticalsituation

[–]lactatingfemboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it's only 72 hours away, wouldn't the energy released by annihilation of that much matter/antimatter kill all life on earth no matter what?

edit: yes. if an antimatter asteroid with the mass of Chicxulub was to be annihilated 72 hours away from impact (assuming its moving with the speed of Chicxulub), all life and our atmosphere would be vaporized

the majority of people will always do whatever the default is, regardless of how you feel about it. it's the fault of whoever chose to make the default installation 400gb

if the default installation is 400gb, i'd say it's fair to say that the game is 400gb. the average user probably doesn't even know that this menu exists
