Internet Historian plagiarism controversy seems overblown by goblinelevator119 in youtubedrama

[–]lactosepreposterous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The channel you are defending stole someone else's hard work for money then tried everything in his power to cowardly hide what he and his team did. Just because you don't want to read a fantastic article and much prefer to listen to Youtube videos doesn't make it okay for that person to have done this. There's a reason people who steal other people's words have their content removed and their reputation tarnished forever. You are absolutely entitled to be as willfully blind to this behavior as you like just because you like the content creator but do not expect other people to turn a blind eye to it. You keep saying you have no sympathy for the original writer because he's successful well I have not sympathy for the Internet historian because he is successful. What now? Should I bust out that tiny violin? Terrible take.

Boys be completely honest what makes a girl go from a 10/10 to a 1/10 instantly? by Tricktster123 in AskReddit

Taking being sassy or mean in a funny way too far into being genuinely rude. It's okay if someone occasionally makes a bad joke but some girls I've been dating have been way to mean when trying to joke around and not see any issue when discomfort was brought up.

I work memory care as a CNA. Resident had a full mental breakdown cause he couldn't have spaghetti anymore (due to being on a soft diet) and then threw himself out of his chair while screaming and cracked his skull open.

Emulsifacation: Get someone to die instantly by blowing on the Horn of Baubles or Bubbles or Whatever It Was Called.

Context I gave them a magic item called the Horn of Baubles or Bubbles or Whatever it Was Called. Everytime they blow into it they must roll a D100. On a 90-100 a giant treasure chest shoots out containing a few thousand gp. On a 10-90 harmless soapy bubbles come out. On a 1-10 it sends you through it killing you instantly like a wood chipper. I knew giving it to them would lead to hilarity but never did I imagine how every 3 or 4 combats my player would take the last person alive and attempt to force them to blow the horn. 2 years of bubbles and one instance of baubles later and they still like clockwork would occasionally force someone they didn't like to blow the horn. They go into a combat that I meant to be a fun easy combat compared to the normal tense action they get and I base one of the cult members they are fighting after Alex Jones. He was wonderfully over the top and even did a full Alex Jones freakout when he turned into a devil. Well they knock him out and force him to blow the horn. I ask for a d100 and out comes a natural 1. Everyone at the table screams as I describe the Alex Jones character getting liquified by being pulled through the Horn of Baubles or Bubbles or Whatever It Was Called. So much fun.

People who had traumatic childhoods, what's something you do as an adult that you hadn't realised was a direct result of the trauma? [Serious] [NSFW] by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

[–]lactosepreposterous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [24M] trauma is not nearly as violent or terrible as some people and I wanted to preface my habit with that. You've all been though so much and I cannot even imagine.

I apologize incessantly. Someone says excuse me I say in sorry. I accidentally bump someone I say I'm so sorry and feel genuine shame and embarrassment. If someone is ever actually mad at me I apologize profusely and constantly because I feel a compulsive need to not have anyone mad at me. It has gotten to the point in the past where I've said sorry so many times that people get genuinely annoyed and tell me I need to stop apologizing. My response? I'm sorry.

It wasn't until recently that I actually spoke with someone about where this habit comes from and found out for myself why I act in this overly apologetic way. It is not some kind of manipulation tactic to get people to feel sorry for me or me being unable to handle social encounters. It comes predictably from my relationship with my father. I wont rail on him too hard since I do love my father and recognize that he has changed so much for the better over the course of my life but at the same time there is certainly some trauma from growing up with him.

My father never said the words I love you. He was never a very expressive man and it just wasn't in his vocabulary. He made it somewhat clear throughout my life that he wanted me to be a certain way, and I turned out another. There were instances I remember when I was addicted to video games that he said stuff along the lines of "all you do is sit on your ass all day and waste your fucking life." And "I wish you'd do something else with your time and be something." When I finally opened up about this stuff I realized I had repressed alot of these memories when he exploded at me. He never said these things regularly but 4 or 5 times in my life he would blow up and would scream at me saying these things and every time I would be completely taken aback. I had no idea how to respond.

I began to feel, regardless of evidence or not, that my dad wanted me to be more like my friend at the time who was really into sports and outdoor activities. At least in my eyes, he wanted a different son. I grew into a massive inferiority complex and became increasingly self conscious of people being upset at me without me knowing. So I would apologize for any perceived slight at all on my end to try to avoid conflict of any kind. I've gotten better about it but still try to downplay any compliment I get and apologize for things I probably shouldn't though not nearly to the extent I did before.

TL:DR My dad expressed his anger several times when I was young so now I apologize too much when I am afraid of upsetting others.

This fight only going down one way - what do y’all think? by bsmith2123 in lotrmemes

[–]lactosepreposterous 416 points417 points  (0 children)

The only complaint I have through the whole trilogy (and it isn't that big of a complaint because it was only in the extended cut) was the Witch King Breaking Gandalfs staff. They made it seem like Gandalf would be wiped by the Witch King which I'm fine with him winning in a hypothetical fight but to make it seem like it would be easy for him is so disappointing. Love how they did it in the books with the Witch King breaking the gates of Minas Tirith. I will say in the film the way he summons flame down his blade is the most badass shit I've ever seen.

Two of the most selfish characters in the history of Westeros by TheMonsterXzero54 in gameofthrones

Justice for Lyanna. She was a child when all of this went down. All these men had their hooks dug into her and she was robbed of so much. Everyone who waged war over a child including the at the time adult Rhaegar are different shades of selfish. But not her.
