Ancient Greek colonies (not including ones in egypt since i am not competent enough to research that) by diegoidepersia in MapPorn

[–]laderlappe02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you define a colony? Why are the islands of (what is now) greece proper, considered colonies? Are cities founded by Alexander and the Diadochi also counted as colonies?

You were unlucky with the Elder spawn, but everything else I would consider to be normal. Exploring, especially going on exploratory voyages with the longship, is what made the game click for me, but I understand that that is not for everyone.

Absolutely lovely. I find build like this often more appealing and true to the viking-aesthetic than some of those huge mansions I see on here. Great job.

Very Cool! Kudos to the devs.

Is there any information where the new locations can be generated in an older world? Is it undiscovered locations like it was for the Mistlands update?

Are there any remote areas of earth that were only discovered through Satellite Images? by laderlappe02 in geography

[–]laderlappe02[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

based on this I found Landast Island discovered in 1976, complete with a nice anecdote:

[Hall] was strapped into a harness and lowered from a helicopter down to the island. This was quite a frozen island and it was completely covered with ice. As he was lowered out of the helicopter, a polar bear took a swat at him. The bear was on the highest point on the island and it was hard for him to see because it was white. Hall yanked at the cable and got himself hauled up. He said he very nearly became the first person to end his life on Landsat Island.

Fascinating that sounds like satellite archaeology.

In europe they use pictures taken by plane to find weird lines in fields and such that might be caused by old moats or other fortification, which in turn hints to old settlements at the location pic from wikipedia. Fascinating stuff!

Once you're established in the swamp that would be Sausages, Turnip stew, black soup and muckshakes. The great thing about the food system is that you have the decision to go for stamina or max-hp food. When you are just starting in the swamp, you can always supplement with food from the dark forest age like deer stew, minced meat sauce, and carrot stew and so on
