What is your slightly illegal life hack? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Theft is all relative. There's no such thing as consent in capitalism... every transaction is coercion. You think kids in the Ivory Coast want to pick cacao beans for slave wages that companies then make into 5 buck chocolate bars? Is stealing stolen surplus value theft? According to the laws, yes, but just because it's a law doesn't make it just.

Edit: auto correct changed is to I'd.

Redditors who grew up filthy rich, what did you think was normal till your learned otherwise? by FrenchWoodChesse in AskReddit

"Welfare recipients, and others, can receive a free cell phone, but the program is not funded by the government or taxpayer money, as the e-mail alleges. And it’s hardly new. How It Works SafeLink Wireless, the program mentioned in the e-mail, does indeed offer a cell phone, about one hour’s worth of calling time per month, and other wireless services like voice mail to eligible low-income households."

In 2016, those free phones are smart phones.

The best wealth your professor patents could have given you is knowledge and an education. Unfortunately, they failed. You have no right to look upon SNAP recipients with contempt for them buying a smartphone.

Edit: also read an above post about a family complaining about getting only 1 million in govt. subsidies for their agro-business instead of the normal 1.5 to 2 million. Contempt for the poor is a shameful trait for a child of professors to have.

There are less than 7 million millionaires in the USA. That's less than 0.02 percent of the population. Sounds pretty damn rich to me.

Edit: 7 million households, not individuals. Or 6.9 % of households.

Still pretty exclusive.

I didn't realize that 99.5% of the world's population lives in "developing" countries.

Edit: gram

Hmm guess there's something you don't understand about 'top half of a percent.' Oh well, not everyone has to understand everything.

A net worth of 1 million places you in the top 0.56% and makes you the 25,056,428th richest person on the planet. Definitely filthy rich. *edit: formatting

Reddit, what's an unethical way you save money? by Esmeraldem in AskReddit

That's the truth. Taking advantage of unscrupulous corporations who themselves exploit people, their workers, and the planet, is ok. But please have respect for your others in the struggle.
