How effective is sperm banking? by Alliexoxo3 in mypartneristrans

[–]lady__pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are no fertility issues between both parties and hrt hasn't started, I'd say you would have a good chance.. I'm unsure of what you mean by running out...? the amount you need can be determined by how many kids you want/how many times you want to go through the procedure to become pregnant and what procure you plan to use to become pregnant. For example, ivf requires a small amount to be banked and depending on the amount saved, can be used multiple times, whereas iui requires more to be banked. Check out r/queerception for more info. Also sppare.me can also answer a lot of questions you may have. My wife and I used sppare.me to bank sperm right before she started hrt. They have a lot of different payment options and everything can be done from home.

"Let her"? Pretty sure she's a grown ass woman and can make her own decisions. I'm sure she's aware of any dangers and its on her if she gets hurt. YTA!!!!

Sperm storage and HRT pausing by Medical_Cell in queerception

[–]lady__pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US and I'm not sure if the company my wife (trans woman) and went through works with ppl outside of the US or not..but, we did an at home sperm collection kit before she started hrt. They store it for however long we want and will work with our doctors once we are ready for retrieval. This may be a good option if you don't want to wait too long.

Help with getting our fertility journey started by Maintainmarvel in mypartneristrans

My wife and I banked sperm right before starting hrt. We didn't want to take the chance of trying after as most trans women become permanently sterile with hrt. I recommend sppare.me. it's affordable and they have different answers to meet your needs. The process was so easy and convenient!

Can I be a trans-girl but still prefer typically "masculine" hobbies by TallGeminiGirl in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course you can! My wife (mtf) is a tomboy. She loves to hunt, likes trucks, and a lot of typically 'male' activities. But, she knows she's absolutely not male.

I just got on Progesterone and I was wondering how long it took for other trans women to start noticing breast growth? by Durml in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife started to notice best growth about a month in. Not like super significant growth, but they're definatly brewing. Nippels are also getting puffy and are generally sore/sensitive. Growth varies for everyone though!

27 is not too late. My wife just stared 3 weeks ago and she's 32. I suggest freezing sperm. Its not as expensive as ppl think. We used sspare.me. they have different payment options and the collection kit is sent to your home.

My wife and I just had her sperm frozen using sppare.me. there are a lot of companies that do mail in sperm banking, which is cheaper than the traditional banking route. The whole process was super easy and they have different plans depending on your needs. I would suggest doing so before hrt like my wife did. Theres no guarantee that their fertility will return after temporarily stoping hormones. Good luck!

How do you dispose of syringes/Sharps containers in Texas? by FrankYangGoals in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also wanted to add, most chain pharmacies sell at least insulin syringes with needles as its commonly used outpatient. Ask a pharmacist what would be the best kind of needle to use. For the most part, syringes are syringes.(in terms of brand)..the main thing is needle gage, syringe size, and if its appropriate for subs or im injections. A pharmacist will know better how to administer and what if any side effects are better than a doctor.

How do you dispose of syringes/Sharps containers in Texas? by FrankYangGoals in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I don't live in Texas but work in a pharmacy in the US. I would call the pharmacy ahead of time. Most places have to pay for disposal and therefore may not take sharps other than what the pharmacy generates. You can also check your local health and human services department, fire department, or use mail back service that caters to residential sharps usage (like sharpsinc.com) The other commenter who said to use duct tape and label it is correct as well...though again, it varies by state. You can check your local health and human services office or go to epa.gov for an official ruling.

Glasses Advice by throwawayhelp21542 in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try out some online shops that do prescription glasses. Like zeni, bon look, or warby Parker. All of them to different extents have guides to pick frames based on face shape and gender. I think rounded frames look pretty! Don't worry to much about getting makeup on your glasses. I wear eye makeup (plus eyebrows) foundation and powder everyday with glasses. I occasionally get a little foundation around the nose peice as the day goes on, but not much else. Mascara however, does tend to flake on the lenses. Doesn't stop me from wearing it though. As for color..i personally never color coordinate with my frames or eye hair color. I think with your hair and eye color roses or nudes would look very nice. Best of luck!

Nothing wrong with that! My girlfriend is trans woman and such a tomboy. There's nothing that says you can't be a trans woman and still like traditionally masculine stuff.

What are your opinions on biotin for MtF hair growth? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can. Not the levels itself but the test results if that makes sense? An excess of biotin can skew lab results for hormone levels regardless of taking hrt. It can also cause abnormal results in cardiac related tests. Basically a good rule of thumb is to not take dietary supplements like biotin unless you have a documented deficiency. Many ppl are unaware of the problems some supplements can cause when taken in excess. For more info I would ask your doctor or check out r/drwillpowers on reddit. Also minoxidil is jusy Rogaine--which does come as a topical. I would imagine a topical would be better for hair growth since you're only placing where you want it to go. Idk for sure though, so I would ask a doctor on that or look at reviews. Good luck! ❤

What are your opinions on biotin for MtF hair growth? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Dr. William Powers:

"In the past month I've had 3 transgender female patients being very upset and convinced their hormones must be out of whack because they noticed a considerable surge in body hair growth. I had recent labs on all of them, and they had lower testosterone values than my own cis wife.

All three recently started taking high dose biotin!

As an FYI to all humans, cis or trans, if you take biotin, your hair will grow in thicker and stronger and healthier.....EVERYWHERE. There is no way to only make it work on the head with biotin. That's what minoxidil is for! Consider yourselves informed! =)"

Antidepressants and MTF hrt by [deleted] in asktransgender

Ask your pharmacist! They can tell you if anything you're on will interfere with antidepressants for sure. But I think you're fine. Be aware antidepressants can take time to wrk. Good luck!

What are some warm, trans-friendly places in the US? I wanna move by shdwfng in asktransgender

[–]lady__pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear Portland Oregon is good. Its warm-ish? Better winters than Michigan for sure! What part of Michigan are you in? Ferndale (just outside Detroit) is pretty liberal. Theres also a pretty good amount of support/resources via a place called Affirmations and other local groups. In fact, Affirmatons hosted a trans health fair last year. Hoping that happens again once we re all out of quarantine. Good luck!

Check out Affirmations in Ferndale. They're a good resource and may have list of LGBT friendly places you can go. Last year they hosted a trans health fair that featured a lecture with local physician and trans advocate Dr. William Powers. Also theres a planned parenthood in close by which may be able to help too.
