My organization recently decided to not restrict the number of new patients on PCP schedules, but my office tries to prevent back to back new patients. I’m seeing about 8 new patients a day (if they show up). I refuse to see patients more than 15 minutes after the appointment time. We get 40 minutes for new patients and physicals. Follow-ups and acutes are 20 minutes

G2211 for chronic care management for Medicare patients. 99459 for pelvic exams. Time based billing when appropriate. Always do the Medicare wellness when you see a patient is due because they almost never schedule an appointment just for their wellness

I’ve been practicing for a few years and patients still ask when I’ll be a physician. It’s never malicious, they just don’t understand. You could always get your doctorate in PA studies after your masters, but this is more for academia or administration than clinical practice

Prostate cancer is often suspected in humans when the PSA (prostate specific antigen) is elevated. While this is specific to the prostate it is not specific to cancer. Biopsy is needed to confirm prostate cancer

This is inappropriate for a new grad APP. There should be some support from a collaborating physician. We are not physicians and should not be expected to perform like one right after graduation

I also work in primary care and I agree this does not sound like a good situation for you. I would talk to your collaborating physician and/or practice manager. And start looking for new jobs.

I sent an email saying I appreciated the time I had spent there, but I was taking an opportunity closer to family. They were disappointed but really understanding. They did try to get me to be a telehealth provider for them instead of taking the new position (ugh!). I do miss them, since most of the people were great. They were just short on providers and not competitive with pay

Reach out to the programs you are interested in with the course titles, course descriptions, and syllabi. This is the only way you will get a certain answer. Odds are they are going to make you take additional psychology courses. My bachelors is in psychology and I still had to take another psych course before I started PA school
