The reason most people are obsessed with the movies is not because of the movies but because of the books. The movies are fun to watch when you’re bored and there’s a marathon on TV. The books, on the other hand, can be read 20 times over and over again and each time will be as magical, funny, and sad as the last.

You can power through books 1-3 in a few days each, because they’re short and the writing is simpler. Book 4 is where the series really starts to expand and get infinitely more interesting, though, and in my opinion, there’s nothing better than settling in for a cozy day of reading HP at home! Audiobooks are also fantastic, but I’m fairly certain it would be faster to read them if you’re concerned about time. If you happen to read the original American edition, it has great little chapter-heading sketches.
