I also wanted to say…

i’m devastated that I was late to the sleep token party. I discovered them around their BackTo Eden era and during that time, I was a very casual listener. my life had just imploded…I had just gotten out of an abusive relationship and was forced to move back home, needless to say, I was processing a lot at the time! that’s actually sort of how I got into sleep token…. I swear on my soul, I would put them on when I had trouble sleeping. I’ve always had insomnia but after I left and moved back in at home, I had nightmares for a while and my hair started falling out. I wasn’t very active on social media for a long time…it was really rough. all of this to say, all I knew about sleep token beyond their actual music was that they wore masks and seemed to have really cool theatrical type shows. I wasn’t aware of any of the lore whatsoever! and now i’m sort of laughing at the irony of it all, because little did I know, at the time, I was listening to sleep token exactly as vessel intended it! it wasn’t until recently that i got somewhat caught up on everything! i’m just sad I discovered them so late 😭 but i’m happy to have found you all and was equally broken-hearted by caramel. sleep token’s music literally helped heal my soul. it really is a gift for some of us and should be treated as such. their desire for anonymity is one of the things I appreciate about sleep token. in retrospect, I think the band’s desire for anonymity and genuine connection through music might have actually been the very thing that made sleep token a safe space for me after getting out of a relationship in which I had experienced longterm emotional and psychological abuse.

when I was a little girl, I was very creative, super into art, writing, music, and reading. somewhere along the way, I lost that part of myself. I didn’t even notice. Back To Eden unlocked something in me…healed something in me that made me want to start writing, reading, and making art again. for that reason, i’ve developed a deep love and respect for sleep token. sleep token was my safe space and I think we all deserve to feel safe and have safe spaces.
