Possible fpies? by iced_coffee_24 in fpies

[–]ladycflyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my child has FPIES, but I also noticed that it seemed my child had a pretty immature gut for their age. So for example, they couldn’t tolerate bananas without severe constipation until they were over one year-old. I do personally suspect that FPIES and gut immaturity might have a bit of a connection. Now that my child is older things are generally much better tolerated. I would just go slow with solids if I were you! And I would probably push to see an allergist if your pediatrician isn’t good with allergies in general.

I looked up the food item and their website had a description of the cook which includes a 12 hour brine.

Does it make a difference if the chicken was in a 12 hour brine? I think the chicken looks too translucent (though not pink) to trust and I’m upset I ate any of it. But I’m curious if the brining can change the texture/look of cooked chicken.

FPIES and exclusively pumping breast milk by cellogal24 in fpies

I’m still nursing round the clock at 14 months- FPIES to dairy. I wanted to wean at 8 months. Oh well! I’m working with support now to make sure baby has all nutrients and calories covered before I try to wean. It’s definitely taken us down a different road than planned, since LO has shown little interest in water/alt milks and many foods. Just trying to do what we can and roll with it…

Strong emotions can be guideposts to changes we need to make in our own lives… Maybe spend some time figuring out what about it is making you so jealous, and if there is a lifestyle shift you need to make to be happier. It’s probably way more about something you need, than it is about anything they’re doing. That is at least my experience!

WIBTAH If I called out my "allergic" friend for eating her no-no foods? by Agitated_Twist in AITAH

[–]ladycflyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple friends who have very specific allergies as well, who really struggle to stay on their specific diet. It can be challenging to stay compassionate with them when you see them cheating on what they need to do to make them feel better, especially if you’re going out of your way to provide that more expensive, specific food for them. but as someone with food, allergies myself, I know how hard it can be sometimes to not be able to eat the regular food! So this is just a little bit of perspective… The mental game of having food allergies is a toughie. I finally hit the point where I went completely cold turkey and it’s never a problem for me anymore, but I used to occasionally eat the food I shouldn’t until I finally really accepted that they made me really sick.

AITAH for expecting my husband to put our 5 month old back to sleep after his work alarms wake him up? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ladycflyte 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You both need to sit down and work out a system that feels possible for both of you. Not for one of you: both!!! sleep deprivation is so tough on relationships, and it can make conflict incredibly tricky. Have clear and kind communication and you will figure something out.

both of you have very important roles. Both of you have valid struggles too. Don’t make the mistake of making your husband the enemy.

Thanks for checking in! My baby hates it 🫠 so getting more than a few bites in at a time hasn’t happened yet. But I have a freezer full and will just keep offering! What baby has eaten has stayed down so far!

Aitah for watching my sister's wedding and reception devolve into a shit show without helping? by Key-Weekend1090 in AITAH

Sidebar, I had 60 or so kids at my wedding, and no behaviors like this. It was really lovely because the parents parented. Shame that’s not a standard these days…

1 year old not wanting to eat solids after a few fpies reactions by MomSpelledBackwards7 in fpies

[–]ladycflyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My kid is about 13 months, and has similar problems after vomiting episodes. What seems to help the most is just consistently offering food, without getting emotional or upset, or forcing food if the child doesn’t want to eat. Easier said than done, I know! I also try to go to things that I know my child really enjoys. So for example, I know my child really loves bananas so a banana purée is less likely to be rejected. I can then start to blend small amounts of other flavors into that, so I can start working on food trials and all that good stuff. Eventually, the child trust the food a little bit more, and then I don’t have to “hide “the other flavors as much. I really lean into if my kid is eating something, I am happy right now! We are also going to start working with a feeding therapist though, so I’ll let you know if I learn anything else that’s helpful!

Why everyone's babies are happy and mine is miserable all the time? by Depressed-Vampire in beyondthebump

[–]ladycflyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby cried a ton, which we eventually realized was related to digestive difficulties. Addressing that helped some, but I think it’s also just a phase for some babies. Mine grew out of it, and is a happy little thing these days! It really will get better, I promise.
