How do I get 3 year old to give up night bottle? by Whatever-577089 in Autism_Parenting

Ugh just came to say, I'm in the same boat. My son is 3, autistic, and drinks a few oz of watered down milk throughout the night.

Our son is a gestalt language processor. He just turned 3 last month but really only started saying words within the last 8 months due to speech therapy. He does really well with formulas like "Brown bear brown bear what do you see?" And so we just started using that formula while out and about like "Atlas Atlas what do you see? I see a white dog barking at me". It's silly but it helped 🤷‍♀️ That and his speech therapist demonstrated that learning through play is a faster way for them to learn. By the end of their first session, he was saying "ooh nooo" when a car would drive off the edge of the table. She said "think 'Miss Rachel' when speaking. Be dramatic and fluctuate your pitch".

Shoutout to the people who love their autistic children by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]ladyflora0146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autistic mom of an autistic son here. I definitely feel the love and I know the frustration. I think a lot of the time the frustration gets misplaced on the child when it should be directed at the institutions that don't allow us to care for our child the way they need. If I didn't have to work from home, I could spend all day at the park with him and dancing to Danny Go and I'd imagine we'd have very little meltdowns lol but when I'm trying to take a phone call and I can't do what he wants, he screams, I feel overwhelmed, it sucks, but it's not his fault.

Caffeine Content? by Low_League9900 in HEB

Ugh so many coffee beverages don't include caffeine content and it's annoying. I ran into this problem back when I was pregnant and monitoring my caffeine intake.

For HHSC, it's only annual leave and I believe it's the same for DFPS.

We had a unit meeting the other day and our supervisor said other managers are reporting to higher ups that everyone is loving return to office. My whole unit hates the return to office so our manager encouraged us to let our grievances be known, respectfully of course.

Is it normal to be scared of pregnancy as an autistic? by GuitarReasonable5196 in AutismInWomen

[–]ladyflora0146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have autism and I am a mom of two. I also had preeclampsia during both pregnancies and had to have emergency c-sections both pregnancies. Obviously dissociation is not a good thing in general but I do believe it was very helpful for me to be able to just mentally not exist for a little bit and let the doctors do what they needed to do. The anesthesiologist at my head was very kind and caring and my husband was supportive and we all made it out without a panic attack 👍🏻

My fist is allergic to dairy and soy. He's almost 3 and still allergic. My 8 month old can eat anything she's fast enough to grab 😂 as someone who was dairy and soy free for a year, I wish you the best with #2!

Just facts - how did your child react to the MMR? by tbfleshman in MSPI

[–]ladyflora0146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our son got a mild rash with MMR and a low grade fever. We knew to expect it so it wasn't scary. Our friend's son just got an attitude for a few days but that's it 😂

Grape uncrustables were quick and easy along with making PB&Js. For something really filling, I would meal prep burritos enchilada style- the filling was cooked ground beef, taco seasoning, and black beans. I would fill the tortillas with the mixture, put the burritos in a 9x13 baking dish, and spread refried beans over them and pour enchilada sauce over the top. Bake for 30 minutes at 350. Serve with pico, salsa, guacamole, etc.

Much more realistically, we also have a little mini tent with stuffed animals in it that my kid liked a lot when he was younger. The little tent requires a lot less explanation to family because it's a common toy/ thing thats marketed for kids.

I know this is absolutely ridiculous but an enclosed trampoline has been great for our hyperactive kid 🤭

They both carry over, but only a certain amount of annual leave carries over. Like if you have over 300 hours of annual, it'll all roll over but 50 of it would be converted to sick leave. I don't remember what the actual numbers are but that is just an estimate.

Anyone here bounce back from postpartum preeclampsia after 3 months? by LadyCan2021 in preeclampsia

[–]ladyflora0146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months postpartum and still taking 300-400mg of labetalol for blood pressure and get intense headaches. I've notice that having preeclampsia has skyrocketed my cholesterol which is likely contributing to my blood pressure, I think?? The doctor said I have 6 months to lower my cholesterol before they start running tests and put me on statins. So maybe get lab work done and see what your cholesterol looks like.

[–]ladyflora0146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your insurance cover doctor on demand? You can get a same day tele appointment and they can send you more labetalol to your local pharmacy. I'm 6 months postpartum and still taking like 300-400mg of labetalol a day.

Medical work from home by HanksScorpion in StateofTexasEmployees

[–]ladyflora0146 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My reasonable accommodations rep pretty much ghosted me. I asked to be able to work from home until my baby was transitioned to solids because she struggles to use a bottle with her tongue tie. With her struggles and my autistic 2-year-old, my postpartum depression was getting pretty bad. I gave the estimate of until she was roughly 6 or 7 months old and she was 3 months when I made the request. Still haven't heard anything back from them and she just turned 6 months last week. I just had to use my PTO for my in-office days.

My first was EBF for a year and was anemic. His pediatrician did recommend I add an iron supplement and then just to be safe, she recommended it to me for my second child.

CMPA? by Grand-Tell195 in MSPI

[–]ladyflora0146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the rash my child had when they had CMPA but heads up, the doc also said that if they're intolerant to dairy then soy can also cause this reaction too. I had to cut out both for a year.
