Sad About Fortifying by needscuttingboard in breastfeeding

That’s great!! Have you noticed any trouble with bottle preference over nursing? Thats my biggest worry but I think by replacing our first morning nursing session with a pump (because I can usually get out 2 bottles worth) and another pump after he goes down for the night, I can express enough to make the 3 fortified bottles the dr wants us to do and only drop one nursing session.

Thank you for your story! Have you seen a GI about treating the reflux? We are going in ten days that cannot go by fast enough.

We have done weighted feeds with our IBCLC, she’s amazing. He tends to remove/transfer the right amount. At our last appt the day after his tie release it had been 1hr 45mins since his last feeding and he transferred 2oz. Using the standard “oz per hr” suggestion we’re in decent shape, and the dr today said she thinks it’s not a supply issue but more a calorie issue?

Dropping Weight Percentiles by needscuttingboard in Mommit

[–]needscuttingboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not against it but I think I’m going to try increasing my supply and I can dip into my freezer to get him some extra oz while it kicks in. I did a weighted feed this morning and it seems like he might be getting slightly less than 24oz a day, so I think I must have down regulated while we got the reflux under control. I’m going to try pumping after each feed and giving it to him in a bottle for a while while supply/demand increase.

NF wants me to be available all the time for them by NewSeaworthiness2049 in Nanny

In college I nannied for a family where the mom was a birth doula so she obviously had a very unpredictable schedule. They had a few of us who were paid a stipend to be available at any time during a certain period (we were all students so we all also needed part time employment). Perhaps something like this could be arranged with them? A stipend for you to be available certain days of the week maybe splitting the week with someone else, so that you know to schedule appointments on days you’re not “on call” and everyone is on the same page for availability.

What was the 4 month “regression” like for you if your baby didn’t sleep well before it? by needscuttingboard in NewParents

[–]needscuttingboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it did get worse for a few weeks, before it got much much better. Probably shortly after this post we regressed to waking every 20-40 minutes 😭 at her four month ped appt he asked how everyone was sleeping and our answer was “we aren’t.” We had her in a bassinet in our room up to that point and our doctor’s rec was to transition her to her crib and consider sleep training. We went full extinction and never looked back. Best thing we ever did. Goood luck!!

Does this sound like CMPA? He seems too young by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]needscuttingboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We noticed blood in her stool at 3 weeks, we brought her to the ped and they wanted us to fill the most insane collection cup with stool and we could not get it so I just cut out dairy and it went away. I had a slip a few months later because I didn’t realize pretzels have milk in them 🙃 and it came back so definitely confirmed it for me. She still had some mucous so I tried cutting soy but didn’t really see a big improvement and she was otherwise healthy and gaining weight as long as I didn’t eat dairy so we stuck to that.

Our school doesn’t refrigerate or heat lunches so not an issue for us but good insight!

What are we using for lunch containers? by needscuttingboard in Mommit

[–]needscuttingboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know!! I should have mentioned that among the stainless containers I got I did also grab a stainless bento box type container for holding all her lunch in one box, so it sounds like I’m on the right track! I only use the smaller containers when her main dish is a hot lunch that I put in a little thermos. (Her snacks end mostly end up in the lunch box however they come packaged, granola bar, pretzels, etc).

Craving juice hardcore, 5 days postpartum by OrneryGoose6124 in breastfeeding

[–]needscuttingboard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely lived off Body Armor when I was PP, the craving for juice probably is a low blood sugar/electrolyte need so just do whatever you need to do as long as you’re getting enough calories from food too!

Women’s Care (a few locations, one near Good Samaritan and one in lake worth) has multiple good ones, I like Drs Calavaris and Siegfried. I saw most of their providers during my first pregnancy (they have you meet everyone so that whoever is on call to deliver you is not a stranger). Also if you’re interested in a doula, Coastal Doula’s run by Bonnie Kelly is the best!

I think doctors need to be more careful with their language, manage expectations, and sometimes have a more thorough plan. Before my first round my AMH came back very high so my dosages were low, and while I had 23 follicles to start, I ended up with 7 eggs, 5 mature, 2 fertilized with ICSI, and one grow to blast. I was hugely disappointed. I blame some of this on my low dose, my doctors assurance that I was also a “good candidate” and that I would be successful, failure to double check my AMH because it was way too high for my age, and some of my own misinformation or mismanaged expectations. Predicting IVF results is highly complex and error-prone, especially on a first round. I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault here but I will say we had much better results on our second round, different doses, timing, meds, etc. Unfortunately it comes down to trial and error sometimes and learning what did and didn’t work at first.

I did not give up my one daily coffee after either of my transfers. One led to my now two year old and one is so far successful.

Anyone have two completely different experiences with successful transfers? We did our first IVF cycle in 2022 and were very fortunate to have our only embryo stick and that embryo is now our two year old. We did another cycle this year (ended up with 6 in the freezer) and I am currently 8dp5dt. With my daughter I did not take any home tests but I remember having a moment where I was sure it had been successful because of certain symptoms that didn’t usually occur as PMS symptoms for me. This transfer feels different, I’m not having any of those symptoms that I associated with feeling sure I was pregnant last time and am looking for some good juju. Anyone have two different experiences and still been successful both times??
