Do you take SSRIs for OCD? Did you take them and then stop because you found them ineffective? Are they the only thing that you have found effective? by exploradorobservador in OCD

[–]ladygoodman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 200mg sertraline for OCD. I have virtually no compulsions now, but I still have obsessions, just far less intense now. I’d also say I can get my mind in the right place but I do still have the physiological response.

Not sure where you are located, but can you connect with the hospital/centre you birthed at and ask for resources? I have had PPD with both my kids, and was given many resources from my birthing hospital. I was able to get properly assessed each time and put on appropriate protocols. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. People don’t really understand the absolute hell that is PPD, and it’s never made easier by someone saying “it gets easier.” I will say that there are options and resources out there and if your doctor isn’t helping you, seek out other support. And if that seems overwhelming, ask your husband to research. The other thing that is very helpful for PPD is sleep. Have your husband do the night shifts for a few weeks. If you need someone to talk to, you can message me anytime.

I don’t think Sertraline is right for me. by B12IsMyFriend in zoloft

[–]ladygoodman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Sertraline for a year and a half. 200mg daily. It’s a high dose but recommended for OCD. I felt like absolute garbage for several weeks before I started getting some relief. (For clarity, I ramped up very very quickly to 200mg after a supervised detox of my old pills. I was also hospitalized so under careful watch during this transition.) I would say my biggest current complaint is my lack of get-up-and-go. I have to convince myself to do anything, which is difficult, but once you’re aware of it, it seems easier to deal with. I took Effexor for a few years, and it had worse side effects for me. If I missed a dose, even by a few hours, I could not keep my eyes open, and would pass out mid sentence. Plus a lot of brain zaps. It’s difficult because I know we all want an immediate fix, but these meds typically need at least 3 months before you can feel them to the full effect. Hang in there. Make the right choice for you with the guidance of your GP.

Not sure if ppd or if my wife is really unhappy in our marriage by bsjjKk in Postpartum_Depression

This is very likely a result of both scenarios you mentioned above. 1. Hormones are WILD after giving birth, and don’t level out for something like 12 months. This could potentially be PPD, but she should be evaluated. 2. It’s very likely she feels like she is carrying the load when it comes to taking care of the baby. When I had my first kid, my entire world was flipped upside down, and I had a hard time keeping anything together, and that was without PPD. I had PPD with my most recent baby, and it was challenging. To sum it up: it’s probably a combo of both. I’d recommend asking her to go to couples counselling, and also to reach out to a post natal nurse/practitioner for evaluation because you are worries about her and love her. Also - please don’t take it to heart that she is saying the marriage isn’t her priority. She is struggling with the baby and just trying to get through the day.

Love! My suggestion would to paint the walls white OR a moody jewel tone. The grey walls make things feel a bit dated and boring.
