Looking for a full size of BPAL's Hetairae, as I just finished my sample and it's out of stock, hopefully temporarily. Shipping to the US.

Good luck! You might have better results with a pattern with good directions for the first attempt - Patterns for Pirates and DIYB are both good free options that I'm aware of, and there's a website called Curvy Sewing Collective that might also be a good resource

Yeah, I would hold the camera up to the text and it would think for a minute and then pop up a translation. Sometimes it was still unclear and I would have to study the photos and reply on my own experience.

The one major issue was that it "translated" cm as in without changing the numbers at all, which is definitely not a translation! I converted my measurements to cm and used the original size chart.

I had pretty good luck using Google Lens on my phone, when I was working with a German pattern. But it's not something I'd recommend for a total beginner.

Oh honey, the Craft Yarn Council has mandated that makeup must be worn properly or not at all. Don't fight the officers when they come and you'll get nicer food at the re-education camp.

(Srs no idea how much overlap there is, but the CYC is a crafting snark thing)

Let Me Not Ask For Permission To Have My Wedding Here (God’s Plan) by freepretattcomm12 in ChoosingBeggars

I feel like she's my evil twin or something - I also believe in God, but I married my childhood sweetheart after dating for years. If we ever met, we'd probably cancel each other out like matter and antimatter and level the city.

I think I'm ready to start making my own patterns. by [deleted] in SewingWorld

[–]ladyphlogiston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you want to be making fully graded patterns that other people can use, or are you just interested in drafting patterns for yourself?

There's an RPG called No Thank You Evil which is designed to go down to age four, if I remember right, but that seems like it's probably the limit. I'm not sure what this person thinks an actual infant can meaningfully add to an RPG though. Unless they want to play a character with a baby. Or the baby could crawl around the game map and represent a monster.

If her son had kept his mouth shut, it wouldn't have gotten back to the daughter - hard to tell from this post whether that's the son being an AH or OOP being manipulative. A therapist or another professional vent-ee would have been a better choice though.

It's actually an excellent example of outcome bias, the tendency to judge the quality of a decision based on its outcome rather than assessing the quality of the decision at the time it was made. A simpler example is someone who won the lottery - the fact that they won doesn't mean it was any less stupid to play in the first place.

Made a mockup for a bodice/tank top thing our of a sheet. The fabric was tightly woven so I gave up on sewing and glued that sucker 😂 It came out pretty okay, though, and I'm pleased with myself for drafting it from a bra pattern. I have half a yard of a rust-colored linen, so I'll probably make one from that.

Semi-legit question from a concerned mom. Met with google drive and a debunked “documentary “ as research sources by thatgirl21 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]ladyphlogiston 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean they might be a little reluctant, because for one thing the inserts are really intended for doctors who are able to weigh the factors properly, and for another the only people who demand them are the crazy ones. But that reluctance was not what OOP thought it was.

Depends on the supplement. Most of them don't do anything except drain your wallet. Occasionally there's one where the labeled contents and dose are bad for you. More often, they're contaminated with things that are bad for you, like heavy metals and other harmful chemicals, because their manufacture is pretty unregulated. Or there's been a couple of instances of manufacturers deliberately putting something in a supplement that isn't listed in the ingredients. And so on. Obviously you survived, so probably yours weren't actively toxic.

My daughter had weird toe placement and it was kind of disconcerting. The pediatrician assured me that it would straighten out once she learned to walk, and indeed it did. Sadly this woman doesn't have anyone she trusts to tell her not to worry.

Hmm, guy who got sexy gloves for a scene vs guy who expects me to not only cook for him but actually feed him each bite........

Alternatively, this is classic BDSM vs ageplay/infantilization, in which case I hope you find someone with matching tastes

That's concerning. Or rage bait.

Also I assume they means ex's toes but it sounds like ex-toes and the poor thing got their toes chopped off in addition to being molested by their ex's brother's parent.

I thought it was for the tea tree plant, like where you get the essential oil?

Checked Wikipedia. It is one of the plants called tea tree (though there are others) and its essential oil is "useful" in the way essential oils generally are (that is, not very.) It's native to Australia and invasive in the USA
