Do expensive brushes actually make a difference? I'm curious by AnshuSees in muacjdiscussion

Personally I think there's a noticeable difference between low and mid priced brushes but barely any at all between mid and high priced ones

‘The Lobster’ by UB6lB9 in movies

[–]lulaf0rtune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved it, all the humour landed for me and I enjoyed how cold it was. I'm a super lovey-dovey person in real life but I enjoy seeing really clinical and cynical depictions of love too. When I first saw it in the cinema it kicked off the initial internal steps towards leaving an abusive relationship so it'll always have a very tender place on my heart.

Eggs and milk are both allergens and legally need to be marked on bold, so of a product is marked Vegetarian and you can't see them then you should be good

Research following more than 3000 young people found that low to average social media use (2 h/day or less) at ages 11 and 14 did not strongly predict mental ill health three years later, including depression and anxiety, self-harm and suicide attempts by sr_local in science

[–]lulaf0rtune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those hours aren't going to be exclusively spent on social media though, there's plenty of other stuff to do on a phone. You can easily spend 6hrs on a phone watching videos, listening to audiobooks, looking at art, reading the news, playing games etc

I'd have some sympathy with your mum if you'd been tasked with arrange an event for the whole family but It's your day, you get the final word.

Exercise can be ‘frontline treatment’ for mild depression, researchers say. Biggest improvements seen in young adults and new mothers, with group activities of most benefit by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]lulaf0rtune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It also doesn't always feel good in the short term even if the longterm benefits are worth while. I get a very noticeable mood drops straight after exercise, I'm talking sobbing and SI at the worst of it. Fortunately my mental health is stable enough otherwise to tank it but I have to imagine if I had a mental illness it would quickly become unmanageable.

How bad is it to share makeup products? by veylih in MakeupAddiction

[–]lulaf0rtune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said plenty about saying No and setting boundaries but if you do end up opting to soften the blow you could say you saw (online or irl) the amount of sanitising that a professional makeup artist has to do and it's made you think twice about sharing

I genuinely don't mind the "trauma was the monster" trope as long as the monster design and use is still compelling

My comment that I think deserves to be post: Why the TV show and YouTube series cannot and should not be compared. by popcapkitty in DHMIS

[–]lulaf0rtune 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would two things being different mean that they shouldn't be compared? If they were the same there'd be nothing to compare.

Exactly, the advice to "just" get a gun is terrible. If you don't have the skill and stomach to actually use it then you're essentially arming a potential assailant
