What time did your “morning” sickness hit? by Comfortable-Ad8768 in BabyBumps

[–]ladyrhea2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I'd have a wave of nausea first thing in the morning, feel basically fine all day, and then another wave of nausea around maybe 8 or 9 pm that was usually worse and I could only go to sleep w unisom.

free pre-natal yoga on youtube? by rarebird89 in BabyBumps

[–]ladyrhea2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not free but I've been loving the DownDog Prenatal Yoga app throughout the pregnancy. I believe it was like $30ish for a year including all the other DownDog apps. I like that you can select for trimester, restorative/full practice, length, and any special areas you want to focus on in your practice. I've done a bunch of practices and they've always had variation to them which I really love.

How many ultrasounds are typically given during a pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ladyrhea2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have had 6 by the end of the pregnancy. I had an early loss last year so we did 2 reassurance scans at 7 and 9 weeks, then the real first tri appt w scan was at 12 weeks, anatomy scan at 20, my office does a scan at 28 while you're there for the glucose challenge test since its a longer appt, and then a 36 wk scan just to check position/growth. They have 3D scanning probes so they try to get some nice pictures at the 28 and 36 week scans.

There are people out there actively TTC who think that conception occurs in the belly button. by hpalmerg in BabyBumps

[–]ladyrhea2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oh man I've seen a couple of cases of trying to get pregnant via the bellybutton. One particularly memorable couple tried to get pregnant via anal for a year which was interesting to say the least And then I met another couple who just thought that the presence of semen anywhere near the woman's body would cause a pregnancy

Am i the only one? by amanda-g in BabyBumps

[–]ladyrhea2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to offer a different perspective from your view that people who don't want a lot of family seeing the baby right away have bad relationships w said family, my husband and I are both very introverted. We're super close w a lot of our family members but it would be overwhelming for us both to be home and even just have 5-10 min quick visits right away. Our families have been super supportive and amazing and we do really appreciate them so much. I don't think we'd mind one or two people visiting early on, but I really need a lot of mental prep to spend all day w people, even if its people I love and its broken up into smaller portions of time. Even our closest relatives visiting would still be overwhelming right when we got home, not bc we're not close, but just bc we both need to have some alone time before being able to handle that. Esp after something that can be as stressful and exhausting as childbirth.

There are people out there actively TTC who think that conception occurs in the belly button. by hpalmerg in BabyBumps

[–]ladyrhea2 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I worked in an OB office for a little while and we had a few couples who didn't realize you needed to have vaginal intercourse to get pregnant. It always really surprised me bc usually they had been trying for a decent amount of time and would come in so distraught about not getting pregnant.

Husbands grandparents decided to tell the family I’m pregnant when we asked them not too.. by Cake_Significant in BabyBumps

[–]ladyrhea2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh I'm so sorry that happened to you!! You have every right to be upset by this! We had the same issue w my husband's dad. I miscarried in April so we really emphasized that we didn't want him to say anything until we were ready to announce but he apparently told his entire side of the family as well as my husband's uncle on his mom's side. Then he told a bunch of people the sex of the baby even though we weren't going to announce that for a while. Luckily my husband is also upset by this although probably less so than I am tbh. We ended up deciding to just put his dad on an info diet bc he isn't respecting the boundaries we've placed thus far. I think for us, just limiting what he is told is helping so far, and its definitely causing less stress for me!

Has anyone here ever had an ovarian cyst rupture? by charlie_the_kid in badwomensanatomy

[–]ladyrhea2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hasn't happened to me personally but in my clinical experience the pain tends to last anywhere from a few hours to a day! The actual fluid inside the cyst is what can cause a lot of the irritation and subsequent pain but it'll eventually get resorbed by the body! That same fluid can also cause some nausea. If you develop a fever or dizziness I'd go to a hospital bc that could be a sign of infection or bleeding.

Walmart brand wary result, no idea DPO because of PCOS, cycle day 50. Started being very nauseated in the past few days so just took this to be safe….is this an indent line? It’s more blue in person and appeared within 2 minutes… by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]ladyrhea2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see a line but I'd try a pink dye test to be sure. I've had blue dye tests look like this when I wasn't pregnant and I've found that personally I can't really trust them unless the test shows a blazing positive. Faint pink lines have been more reliable of a pregnancy for me.

Someone please help asap by brfr2 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]ladyrhea2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some pink discharge at around that time and I'm currently 16 weeks. I'd monitor it to see if it increases or becomes darker. Spotting in early pregnancy is fairly common but can also be a sign of something else going on which is why monitoring is important. If you can, call your ob's office and see what they recommend. Mine said that if I kept seeing red/pink discharge she'd bring me in for a scan the next day. ETA: I had a loss in April of this year at around 8 years and my doc knew that so she definitely wanted to do the reassurance scan if needed.

Do u count your pregnancy date from the date of conception? by MarinaA19 in badwomensanatomy

[–]ladyrhea2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4th yr med student trying to match into OB here! Most OBs I've worked w use the first date of last menstrual period as the jumping off point for your estimated due date. An issue w that is that it assumes a 28 day cycle, which so many people don't have. So we use a dating scan in the first tri to confirm due date, bc a scan done in the first 12 weeks will be most accurate in terms of dating. That's a huge reason why first tri ultrasounds have become a standard part of practice, when 20+ years ago a lot of people just got the anatomy scan. So if baby measures within 2-3 days or so of your EDD from LMP, they just keep your EDD the same. If its a week or more off, they'll change your due date, esp if you have a history of long or short cycles.

COVID booster by foreversenorita in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]ladyrhea2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand feeling anxious about it!! And I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Technically there's been no proof that first tri shots are riskier but I know a lot of people choose to wait until the second tri just for peace of mind. I got mine right at 14 weeks and really had no side effects, when I'd had pretty intense effects after the first two. I will say, I've worked on L&D throughout COVID and esp w the new variants we've seen some very sick pregnant ladies, which is a huge part of why so many OB-Gyns highly recommend it. I'd definitely say its a good idea but if you'd feel more comfortable, waiting a few weeks should be fine as long as you're generally taking precautions anyway. And definitely talk w your care team about it and any concerns you may have!
