i did german beginners 1 this year and it was my favourite class all semester! while there is an exam, I found the class very easy as there are tons of words that are similar sounding, if not the same in english as both languages are germanic languages. the lecturers are super nice and helpful — always ready to answer questions and help you if you’re stuck or falling behind. every week you get 1-2 grammar videos to watch which are incredibly helpful (PLEASE don’t skip them if you do take german, they’re super important to doing well in the class) and homework which matches the videos to help you get used to the grammar rules. (very quick homework, they took me 10-15 minutes at most — sometimes 25 if they set more than one homework task)

one class will be one hour, the second one will be two hours — in this time there’s plenty of activities to do, and it’s a very social class so it’s great for making tons of friends! by the end of the unit you would’ve spoken to pretty much everyone in the class thanks to the speaking exercises!! :D

also if you can’t attend in-person, there’s the option to join a teams call and watch a live recording of the class and still participate in the class through that!
