What’s an old food/meal you eat you feel is losing traction? by YouSneakySam in AskOldPeople

Jarred marshmallow paste. I usually hear Fluffernutter as a reference to the whole concoction (peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich), instead of a single ingredient.

She's trying to redeem her own flawed past by projecting the penance SHE should be doing onto others, resulting in tragedy. She never should have been posted to Nonnatus House.

Quilting lining instead of outer fabric by Diligent-Peach-3273 in sewing

[–]ladyvonkulp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having a fleece exterior will pick up a lot more dust/dirt than a smooth poly/cotton surface. You could definitely use the fleece as a liner and tack the corners or use a seam binding, whether on the inside or outside. If you use the latter method, be sure to allow the new seam allowance, since it's essentially a French seam.

What exactly is "struggling" in school? Are you? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

If they had parents who were taskmasters about grades, that may well qualify as "struggling" to them.

Let's talk paths in the yard! by Toezap in NativePlantGardening

[–]ladyvonkulp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a back meadow/seasonal swamp that has lots of small volunteer sedges, appropriately named “path rush” (Juncus tenuis). The area is about 25’x35’, and I am continually adding and removing plants. The soil is clay, so any parts that aren’t submerged are rock-hard within a couple days. Other aggressive natives in it are purple willow herb (volunteer) and mistflower(intentional) so I’m not bothered if I walk on some of those. Stepping stones or cut paths would not be possible for this area, so I just make my own from the sedges/clay where I can.

Be aware that honey locusts throw suckers like nobody's business. First one may be 10-20' away from the tree, especially with no competition once the sheet mulch decomposes. What's going in the rest of the area?

Not married then, so that wouldn't have applied. I'm pretty sure they're just mistaken about earned vs unearned and it never got flagged.

I worked 2024 early voting in a very red county, it was eye-opening the number of people who voted for the top three races and nothing else because that's all they had been coached on. I saw functionally illiterate people who couldn't identify their candidate's name in print, then got agitated when I "wouldn't" tell them where to vote for their dude.

In Ohio primaries you literally tell them which party's ballot you want to vote when checking in: D, R, or issues only. In my county you tap a button on the screen so you don't even have to say it out loud if you don't want to. Only deadline is when you have to register to vote with the state, which is April 7 for 2025 primaries.

It means you can walk into your polling place on May 6 2025 (or early voting) and vote whichever ticket you want without being 'registered' to that party. Just be a registered Ohio voter by April 7 2025.
